Arrested 2 subjects who created fake Facebook accounts to defraud 1.5 billion VND
The Criminal Police Department, Provincial Police has just arrested 2 subjects who swindled and appropriated property by creating fake Facebook accounts impersonating relatives of the victims.
Previously, on March 27, the Criminal Police Department, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police received a crime report from Ms. LTV (born in 1963, residing in Ha Trung town, Ha Trung district) about being contacted by a subject pretending to be a relative via Facebook, defrauding and appropriating nearly 1.5 billion VND.
Determined this is a case of taking advantage of cyberspace to commit fraudappropriation of propertyThe Criminal Police Department has mobilized forces to investigate and clarify the case.

Four days after receiving the denunciation, the Criminal Police Department arrested two subjects, Nguyen Thanh Dong (born in 1997) and Nguyen Cong Chanh Hung (born in 2004, both in Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province).
Searching the suspects' residence, the police seized 4 cell phones, 1 iPad, 1 desktop computer and 235 million VND in cash.
At the police station, the suspects confessed that they had gone online to learn and practice fraud by creating fake Facebook accounts of Vietnamese people living and doing business abroad. They then used these fake Facebook accounts to contact their relatives, asking them to transfer Vietnamese currency to exchange for foreign currency.
To carry out the fraud, the subjects buy phones, junk SIM cards... then contact the victims to scam them, asking them to transfer money to the account numbers provided by the subjects. They contact Telegram groups with money laundering activities to receive bank accounts for the victims to transfer money.
In addition to the case of defrauding Ms. LTV, these subjects also committed another case of defrauding a victim in Dich Vong Hau ward, Cau Giay district, Hanoi with the amount of nearly 350 million VND.
Currently, the police are investigating and expanding the case.
