Two individuals arrested for illegal trafficking of weapons and related equipment.

Authorities arrested Pham Thi Hoan while she was transporting pepper spray canisters to be sent by bus to customers who had purchased them via social media. Further investigation led to the arrest of Le Thi Lam (Hoan's compatriot) for the illegal trafficking of weapons and related equipment.

On September 12, 2024, the Administrative Management and Social Order Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police announced that it had coordinated with the Do Luong District Police to arrest two individuals for the following offenses:illegal arms traffickingand supporting tools. They seized 190 knives and swords of various types; 58 cans of pepper spray, and 3 boxes of firecrackers (36 pieces each) of foreign origin.

Accordingly, through inspection and review, the Department of Public Security Management on Social Order discovered several online groups and accounts suspected of being involved in the illegal buying and selling of weapons and supporting tools; among them, several individuals residing in Do Luong district stood out. In response to this situation, the Department of Public Security Management on Social Order coordinated with the Do Luong District Police to verify and investigate the matter.

On the morning of September 8, 2024, the task force arrested Pham Thi Hoan (born in 1987), residing in Thuong Son commune, Do Luong district, while she was transporting pepper spray canisters to send by bus to customers who had purchased them through social media. A search of her residence yielded: 66 knives and swords of various types; 40 pepper spray canisters; and 3 boxes of foreign-made firecrackers.

Through further investigation, authorities have arrested Le Thi Lam (born in 1993), residing in Thuong Son commune, Do Luong district, for illegally trading weapons and supporting tools. A search of her residence yielded 124 knives and swords of various types, and 18 cans of pepper spray. Authorities are continuing their investigation and will prosecute the suspects in accordance with the law.
