(Baonghean.vn) - The police in Hung Nguyen district have successfully cracked a major drug trafficking case, arresting two suspects and seizing 1.5 blocks of heroin, 200 synthetic drug pills, 50g of crystal methamphetamine, and other related evidence.
Recently, through investigative work and local area management, the Hung Nguyen District Police have discovered a number of individuals from outside the district showing signs of colluding and connecting with some individuals in Hung Nguyen District to engage in drug-related activities. These individuals operate in a mobile manner, employing sophisticated methods and tactics to evade law enforcement. Their criminal activities have caused public outrage.
In response to this situation, the Hung Nguyen District Police reported to the provincial police leadership and established a special task force to combat the problem.
After a period of surveillance and the coordinated application of various operational measures, on December 18, 2023, two task forces within the special investigation team simultaneously arrested the two ringleaders of the aforementioned illegal drug trafficking network.
Specifically, at 5 PM on December 18, 2023, in Trung Phuc Cuong commune (Nam Dan district), Task Force No. 1 arrested Tran Xuan Vinh (born in 1956), residing in Trung Phuc Cuong commune, on charges of "illegally possessing and trading narcotics." The seized evidence included 1.5 blocks of heroin, 200 ecstasy pills, 50g of methamphetamine, and 160 million VND in cash. Vinh is a former offender.criminal recordfor the crime of "illegally transporting narcotics," he received a 16-year prison sentence.
At the same time, in Hung Thong commune, Hung Nguyen district, Task Force No. 2 caught Duong Duc Hieu (born in 1991), residing in Nghia Hong commune, Nghia Dan district, red-handed for illegally possessing narcotics. They seized 0.32 grams of narcotics. Similar to Vinh, Hieu had two previous convictions and two prior arrests for various offenses.
