Arrested 990 suspects and nearly 1.8 tons of drugs

On November 12, police in China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region said 990 suspects and nearly 1.8 tons of drugs were seized in a joint operation between China and Vietnam that lasted from September to November.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, the China-Vietnam border is one of the busiest drug trafficking routes with large quantities of heroin and drugs circulating through this area.

Qiu Yucheng, deputy commander of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Anti-Narcotics Police Regiment, said that professional anti-drug teams have been deployed in all counties and cities along the China-Vietnam border, and anti-terrorism operations have been incorporated into daily work.

The two countries have increased cooperation in investigating drug cases, sharing intelligence and arresting suspects.

This is the second joint anti-drug campaign between Vietnam and China. In 2014, police from both countries arrested more than 3,800 suspects and seized 900 kg of drugs in a similar campaign.
