Nguyen Thi Phi was arrested at the Cau Treo border gate while carrying documents slandering the regime and promoting the activities of the exiled reactionary organization Viet Tan.

On October 20th, the Ha Tinh Border Guard Command announced that the Cau Treo International Border Gate Border Guard Station, in coordination with the Ha Tinh Border Guard Command's Intelligence Department and the PA 88 Department of the Ha Tinh Provincial Police, arrested an individual who entered Vietnam from Laos via the Cau Treo International Border Gate carrying a large quantity of subversive documents.

Accordingly, at 9:30 AM on October 17th, at the Cau Treo International Border Gate checkpoint in Son Kim 1 commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province, during immigration control operations, the Cau Treo Border Gate Border Guard force discovered Nguyen Thi Phi (born in 1959, residing in Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi) entering Vietnam from Laos without a passport or equivalent document.

During a baggage inspection of Nguyen Thi Phi, authorities discovered a computer and USB drive containing numerous documents related to her connections with reactionary elements both domestically and internationally, as well as some documents and articles slandering the regime and promoting the activities of the exiled reactionary organization Viet Tan against the state.

In 2010, Nguyen Thi Phi was linked to reactionary elements both domestically and internationally and engaged in various activities such as illegal protests.

Nguyen Thi Phi has been subject to a travel ban since 2011 due to her involvement with reactionary organizations both domestically and internationally.

On January 4, 2014, Nguyen Thi Phi was detained by the Cau Treo International Border Gate Border Guard Station while attempting to exit the country along with relevant documents and was handed over to PA88 of the Ha Tinh Provincial Police for investigation according to their jurisdiction.

In March 2014, Nguyen Thi Phi illegally crossed the border via Moc Bai border gate in Tay Ninh province, through Cambodia to Thailand, which, according to Phi's statement, was to retrieve money and remaining assets in Thailand.

On October 17, 2015, Phi returned through the Cau Treo international border gate and was discovered and detained.

The case is currently being investigated by the Cau Treo International Border Gate Border Guard Station in coordination with the Intelligence Department of the Ha Tinh Border Guard Command and the PA 88 Department.
