Authorities arrest suspect posing as a dry goods seller to traffic drugs.
Taking advantage of his familiarity with the mountainous terrain, Lau Va Khu contacted and colluded with notorious individuals across the border to purchase drugs, which he then brought back for retail sale, reaping illicit profits. His illegal activities were discovered and he was arrested by the Ky Son District Police.
Through intelligence gathering, the Ky Son District Police discovered that Lau Va Khu (born in 1964), residing in Son Ha village, Ta Ca commune, showed suspicious signs related to drug-related crimes.
To evade law enforcement, Lau Va Khu "played the role" of buying and selling dried goods in the border area, taking advantage of his familiarity with the mountainous terrain to contact and connect with notorious individuals across the border to buy drugs, then bring them back to sell retail, making illicit profits.

Determined to prevent drug smuggling from outside and keep the border area clean, the Ky Son District Police established a special task force, concentrating forces and resources to arrest Lau Va Khu.
Because the suspects were likely armed, familiar with the area, operated in a sophisticated and secretive manner, and the mountainous border terrain was treacherous, the Special Investigation Team held meetings and developed a detailed plan, waiting for the opportune moment to crack the case.
After a period of persistent monitoring and flexible application of professional measures, at approximately 9:00 AM on June 30, 2024, in the Son Ha village area, Ta Ca commune, the Criminal, Economic, and Narcotics Investigation Team of Ky Son District Police and Na Ngoi Commune Police, in coordination with Ta Ca Commune Police, successfully cracked a case, arresting Lau Va Khu for the illegal trafficking of narcotics. They seized 602 synthetic drug pills, one muzzle-loading rifle, and 0.5 kg of ammunition.
