Authorities arrest a suspect for illegally transporting gold into Vietnam.
Upon detecting a suspicious individual entering the country, border guards inspected him and discovered a quantity of gold hidden in his jacket, which he was preparing to transport into Vietnam during immigration procedures.
On the evening of October 20th, the Tay Ninh Provincial Police, in coordination with the My Quy Tay Border Gate Border Guard Command, were investigating and clarifying the identity of individuals involved in the illegal transportation of gold into Vietnam.
Earlier, during an inspection at the My Quy Tay Border Gate control area in Hamlet 4, My Quy Commune, Tay Ninh Province, the My Quy Tay Border Gate Border Guard Station, in coordination with the Operations Department of the Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard Command and the My Quy Tay Border Gate Customs, was carrying out immigration procedures for visitors entering Vietnam. Unexpectedly, the forces detected a suspicious individual and immediately conducted an inspection.

During the inspection, the individual failed to present the required documents. The task force verified and identified the individual as Tran Dinh Sam, born in 1990, residing in Dinh Quan commune, Dong Nai province. A search of the individual revealed a white, resealable nylon bag, measuring 17cm long and 12cm wide, inside the left pocket of his jacket. Inside the bag were 16 yellow circular objects.
The task force compiled a report, sealed the relevant items, documents, and evidence; and brought the suspect to the headquarters for further investigation and clarification. According to the expert assessment, the 16 yellow circles, weighing 299.62 grams, contained gold as the main metal component, with an average purity of 99.86%.
Currently, the My Quy Tay Border Gate Border Guard Station is holding the suspect in custody and coordinating with relevant authorities to continue the investigation and handle the case according to the law.
