Suspect arrested for robbing a bank with a homemade gun.
After a two-day manhunt, authorities apprehended the suspect who used a homemade gun in an attempted robbery at an Agribank branch.
On the afternoon of September 27th, the Tien Giang Provincial Police announced that after two days on the run, Vo Thanh Hoa, the suspect who used a homemade gun to threaten staff at the Agribank branch in the My Tho Industrial Zone, located in Binh Tao hamlet, Trung An commune (My Tho city), in an attempt to rob the bank on the afternoon of September 25th, has been arrested.
The suspect, Vo Thanh Hoa (born in 1996), resides in Phuoc Thanh commune, My Tho city, Tien Giang province.
According to police sources, the suspect admitted to using a homemade gun to attempt a bank robbery, but failed. During the search, police also seized evidence and the vehicle the suspect used to commit the crime.
Previously, the Vietnam News Agency reported that at approximately 2 PM on September 25th, suspect Vo Thanh Hoa drove a motorcycle without a license plate to the Agribank branch in My Tho Industrial Zone.
Here, the suspect used a homemade object resembling a gun to threaten the bank teller, demanding money. At the same time, the suspect placed a sealed package on the counter, threatening the bank staff and security guard in an attempt to rob them.
However, using the professional response procedures they had been instructed to follow, the branch staff promptly notified the police.
The Tien Giang Provincial Police quickly arrived at the scene, approached the suspect, and urged him to surrender his weapon. The suspect then fled outside, got into a vehicle, and escaped.
