(Baonghean.vn) - Entrusted with collecting a debt, Thuan, along with Chinh and Van, abducted Mr. Thiep and locked him in a karaoke room to threaten him. Afterwards, Thuan fled to Russia and England to work illegally.
On November 7, 2019, the Tan Ky District People's Court held a trial for the criminal case against Hoang Vu Thuan (born in 1985, residing in Hoa Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district) for the crime of illegal arrest and detention.
According to the indictment, in July 2012, Nguyen Cong Thiep (born in 1973, residing in Ky Son commune, Tan Ky district) borrowed 150 million VND from Nguyen Van Thai (born in 1983, residing in Dien Hanh commune, Dien Chau district). Thiep had only repaid Thai 50 million VND.

On August 6, 2012, Thai asked Thuan and Phan Van Chinh (born in 1978, residing in Hoa Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district) to go to Thiep's house to collect a debt on his behalf. Since he didn't know Thiep's house, when they arrived in Do Luong town, Thai asked Van from Yen Son commune, Do Luong district, to accompany him to show him the way.
At Mr. Thiep's house, Thai demanded payment, but Mr. Thiep kept refusing, saying he hadn't paid yet. Hearing this, Thai said:If you're not going to pay, then we'll settle it down here.Then Thai grabbed Thiep's head and pulled him into the car, with Thuan helping from behind.
Thai drove the group to a karaoke bar in Do Luong town and locked Thiep in a room. There, Thai threatened and threw a glass at Thiep's head, causing him injuries that required hospitalization.
Around September 2012, Thuan traveled to Russia and then absconded, staying there to work illegally. After some time, Thuan fled to England to work illegally. On August 12, 2019, realizing his actions were illegal, Thuan returned to Vietnam and surrendered to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police.
Regarding the actions of Thai and Chinh, they were convicted by the People's Court of Nghe An province for the crime of "Illegal arrest and detention" in judgment No. 38/2014/HSST dated April 24, 2014.
At the end of the trial, the panel of judges sentenced Thuan to 18 months of non-custodial correctional training.
