Authorities arrest a group of suspects who smashed car windows to steal.
The suspects confessed that, needing money, they had come up with the idea of driving around the province looking for cars with valuables inside, then breaking the windows to steal the property.
On August 15th, the Office of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Bac Ninh Provincial Police issued an Order to detain individuals in an emergency situation, an Order to arrest individuals detained in an emergency situation, and a Decision to temporarily detain three individuals: LSP, MHP, and SQV; and issued a Decision to initiate a criminal case and a Decision to prosecute the suspects for investigation and resolution in accordance with the law.
The police determined that the above individuals showed signs of "theft of property" and "destruction of propertyas stipulated in Articles 173 and 178 of the Penal Code.
Previously, on July 6, 2025, the Vo Cuong Ward Police, during a crime prevention patrol, discovered a suspect exhibiting suspicious behavior. The suspect identified himself as LSP (born in 2008), residing in Lenh Sui Thang village, Lung Phinh commune, Lao Cai province, and admitted to traveling within Vo Cuong ward, searching for vehicles with valuables inside to break windows and steal.
During the on-site search, law enforcement officers discovered and seized: 1 pair of pliers, 1 12mm wrench, 1 motorcycle key, and 1 flashlight. The Vo Cuong Ward Police brought the suspect to the station for questioning.
Subsequently, the Vo Cuong Ward Police summoned and clarified the identities of four other individuals in LSP's group, including: SSH (born in 2009, residing in Seo Can Ho village, Si Ma Cai commune, Lao Cai province), MHP (born in 2009, residing in Nang Cang residential area, Si Ma Cai commune, Lao Cai province), SQV (born in 2008), and Th. Th. P. (born in 2011), both residing in Gia Khau residential area, Si Ma Cai commune, Lao Cai province.
All five individuals are renting accommodation in Giang Lieu neighborhood, Phuong Lieu ward, Bac Ninh province. According to the report, Vo Cuong ward police received a complaint from Mr. Nguyen Thang Huan (born in 1987), residing in An Cuong residential area, Pham Su Manh ward, Hai Phong city, regarding the incident on the evening of June 24th, when he parked his car in the Dang Van Ngu street area, Bo Son neighborhood.
By the morning of June 25th, he discovered that the front window of his car had been smashed and 45 million VND stolen. Ms. Do Thi Quy (born in 1983), residing at 25 Tran Quoc Hoan Street, Kinh Bac Ward, Bac Ninh Province, also reported that on the evening of July 3rd, she parked her car at the intersection of Le Van Thinh and Dau Ma streets, in Zone 1, Vo Cuong Ward. By the morning of July 4th, she discovered that the driver's side window had been smashed and 7 million VND stolen.
The Office of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Bac Ninh Provincial Police quickly coordinated with the Vo Cuong Ward Police to vigorously investigate, verify, and clarify the case.
The suspects confessed that, needing money, they had come up with the idea of driving around Bac Ninh province looking for cars with valuables inside, then breaking the windows to steal them. The suspects had clearly divided the tasks among themselves.
The money obtained from the thefts would be divided among them... The vehicle used for the thefts was a motorcycle without a license plate. The suspects confessed to committing approximately 20 cases of theft and property damage in the wards of Vo Cuong, Vu Ninh, Kinh Bac, and Hap Linh.
The Investigation Police Department of Bac Ninh Province has issued a notice seeking victims related to the incident to resolve the matter according to the law. During searches at the scene and the suspects' residences, the Investigation Police Department of Bac Ninh Province seized 1 metal pliers; 1 12mm metal wrench; 3 Wave motorcycles without license plates; 1 car window breaker hammer; 1 magnetic car window breaker pen; 6 mobile phones of various types; 1 tablet; cash, etc.
