Arrest of driver and assistant for overloading and resisting traffic police

Previously, at around 9:45 p.m. on June 11, the working group of the Road Traffic Police Team No. 14, Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police discovered a truck with license plate 37C-326.49 traveling along the elevated Ring Road 3 to the service road to National Highway 1B (Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway) with signs of carrying oversized and overloaded goods.

The task force signaled the car to stop and used the loudspeaker to request the car to stop for inspection. However, the driver did not comply and drove straight into the back of the task force's traffic police car; then, the assistant jumped out and hugged the traffic police officer, blocking the traffic police car from moving so that the car with license plate 37C-326.49 could pass, then the assistant jumped over the roadside fence and ran away.

The working group reported to the unit commander to increase forces and coordinate with professional units of the Traffic Police Department - Ministry of Public Security, and Ha Nam Provincial Police to arrest the subjects.

At around 11:17 p.m. the same day, the police stopped the car at Duc An gas station (Thanh Phong commune, Thanh Liem district, Ha Nam province); at the same time, they made a record and took the driver, Ho Ba Quyen, and the vehicle to the police station for questioning. At 4 p.m. on June 12, the assistant driver, Le Van Linh, surrendered to the Hoang Liet Ward Police Station, Hoang Mai district.

The initial result of checking the total weight of the vehicle was 77.8 tons/34 tons (195.1% overloaded compared to the permitted weight for traffic); the goods on the vehicle did not have documents proving their origin. On June 12, the Hanoi City Police Department issued a decision to temporarily detain Ho Ba Quyen and Le Van Linh.

Currently, the Director of Hanoi City Police has directed the Investigation Police Agency and Hanoi City Police to urgently consolidate records and strictly handle acts of resisting law enforcement officers and disregarding the law by subjects according to regulations.
