On September 11, Quynh Phuong Border Guard Station, Hoang Mai town, said that the unit was holding a ship with license plate LA 03 266 that was discharging waste into the sea of ​​Nghe An.

According to information from Mr. Tran Xuan Hieu, Head of Quynh Phuong Border Guard Station - Hoang Mai town, receiving information from the people, at about 7:00 p.m. on August 8, 2016, Quynh Phuong Border Guard Station, along with the military, civilians and fishermen of Quynh Lap commune, coordinated to approach the LA 02 266 ship moving from Nghi Son port to the sea bordering Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, which was dumping waste into the sea. The working group suspended the waste discharge of this ship.

At this time, there were 03 crew members and 01 woman on board. When asked to present documents, only one person was able to present an identity card in the name of Huynh Sam Ral, born in 1982, residing in Hiep Binh hamlet, My Hiep Son commune, Hon Dat district, Kien Giang province and this person claimed to be the captain. The rest could not present any other documents.

Upon inspection, it was discovered that two compartments contained waste, and the other ten compartments had been discharged into the sea. According to the captain’s statement, the waste the ship was transporting into the sea was dredged mud from the waterway of Hiep Thanh Company Limited, headquartered in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City.

The working group requested the captain and crew members on board to dock at Lach Con and return to Quynh Phuong Border Guard Station to continue investigating the incident.
