Arrested thief who broke into safe and stole 2.5 taels of gold and 110 million VND
After breaking into a house in Duc Linh district (Binh Thuan province), Quan broke the safe and took away 2.5 taels of gold and 110 million VND in cash.
On March 27, the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Thuan Province announced that they were detaining Mai Hong Quan (23 years old, residing in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province) to investigate the act of property theft.

Previously, on the afternoon of March 24, Ms. Vo Thi Nu (residing in village 2, Sung Nhon commune, Duc Linh district) came home from work and discovered that her house had been broken into, the safe was broken into and property including 110 million VND in cash and 2.5 taels of 18K gold (rings, necklaces, bracelets) was stolen. The total value of the stolen property was about 250 million VND.
Upon receiving the report, the Binh Thuan Provincial Police working group in Duc Linh district deployed forces, coordinated with Sung Nhon Commune Police to examine the scene, verify the origin of the lost property and track down the thief.
At the same time, the police coordinated with local gold shops to provide information on the lost property, requesting shop owners to be vigilant and immediately notify anyone who brings suspicious property to make a transaction.

At around 1:00 p.m. on March 26, using professional measures, the task force identified Mai Hong Quan as the perpetrator and proceeded to arrest him. At this time, the subject was hiding at a motel in Ward 8, Duc Tai Town, Duc Linh District.
Quan confessed that after stealing the above assets, he brought them to a gold shop to sell for nearly 80 million VND, and used the money for personal expenses. Quan had a previous conviction for theft.
