Arrested two 'inter-provincial' thieves from Nghe An to Hanoi

Taking advantage of the apartment's unlocked balcony doors, Tung and Manh climbed ropes into the rooms to steal many valuable assets.

On September 21, Vinh City Police (Nghe An) announced that they had prosecuted and temporarily detained Nguyen Ngoc Tung (29 years old) and Le Khanh Manh (27 years old), both residing in Quang Binh commune, Quang Xuong district (Thanh Hoa), for theft of property.

According to the records, Tung and Manh were close friends and were short of money so they decided to go stealing together. In July and August, they broke into three high-rise buildings in Vinh City (Nghe An) and Ha Dong District (Hanoi), stealing many properties including iPhones, tablets, laptops, and wallets.

Manh and Tung sold some of the stolen items for money, while the rest were hidden and confiscated by Vinh City police. Working with the police, the two suspects said they often went to big cities to scout high-rise buildings. If they found the homeowner was negligent, they would use ropes to climb into the house at night.

Authorities said the total value of the seized assets was about 50 million VND.
