(Baonghean.vn) - Father, I saw that the police arrested Hoang Duc Binh. Why are you so frantic and worried?

These past few days, our hearts have been filled with worry, fear, and anxiety because of all the different types of information about Hoang Duc Binh being arrested while sitting in a car with his father.

We, the parishioners, find it strange. Binh is not a member of our parish; nor is he a member of the pastoral council, but why has he been hanging around the parish all this time? He is the one who caused chaos in Saigon and Ha Tinh, but why is he now riding in the same car with you? Is Hoang Duc Binh trying to carry out some plot in our parish?

Dear Father, we have just enjoyed the grace of a fervent Lent, recalling the suffering of Jesus. When Jesus had to carry the heavy Cross, the villagers followed him crying because they felt sorry for him, but he turned around and said:“Oh children of Jerusalem, do not weep for me. If you weep for me, you and your children will suffer in the future.”. God Himself taught us why we should cry for Him, let alone why should you worry and be so fervent about Hoang Duc Binh?

Father Nguyen Dinh Thuc, why were you so panicked when Binh was arrested? Why did you have to call other priests to ask for help because "you were arrested" and "the police are cowardly kidnappers", "help you go and get him back"? I also heard clearly, you denied that Hoang Binh was a member of Viet Tan when another priest mentioned this detail. You also said that Hoang Binh was the one who provided you with legal support in suing Formosa.

A girl named Emily sat in Nguyen Dinh Thuc's car, inciting people when Hoang Duc Binh was arrested.

Hearing this, we really don’t understand. Hoang Duc Binh is just a freelance worker, not a legal expert, his education level is only high school like us, out of respect for you we call him “Uncle Binh”, why do you have to ask him for “legal assistance”? Why when Binh was arrested, why were you so panicked?

We attended the Mass when you were ordained a priest. That day, when the Bishop asked you: “...Do you want to faithfully fulfill the ministry of the Word of God, that is, preach the Gospel and present the doctrine of the Catholic Faith according to the tradition of the Church to praise God and sanctify the Christian People?...”, you clearly said “yes”. Now you deny it so quickly when another priest asks you about Hoang Duc Binh. Is that your trust and loyalty?

Another thing that made us worried and suspicious was why there were so many girls with blue and red hair in dad's car. People say, "when the house is on fire, the rats come out", that day, when we saw the girls getting out of dad's car, speaking in broken voices, with blonde hair and red lips, looking unfriendly, we felt bored.

The girls sitting in the car kept cursing and swearing like that, I'm afraid their personalities also have problems, why are they riding in the same car with their father? Not to mention, that blonde girl named Emily, a few hours before Binh was arrested, was eating with her father, giving him an envelope of money. What kind of money was that? Was it clean money or dirty money; was it money from a reactionary organization or what? As a priest, serving God's country, preaching the gospel, why was he riding with people like that?

Father, don't you remember that "A priest lives in the world but is not diluted by worldly passions in his salt of the earth" (see Mt 5:13). Father, where did that money come from? Did she give it to you or to our parish? Chapter 3 of the Decree on Priestly Life stipulates: "...they must not consider the Church's office as a source of profit, nor use the profits to enrich their families." Therefore, priests must never let their souls be attached to wealth, but must always avoid all greed and stay away from all forms of commerce.

Whatever you do, you cannot forget, "A priest is a man of God, so he should be in the world but not of the world, not follow the world's way of life. A priest has his own path, his own way of life according to the spirit of the Gospel." Saint Paul said: "Do not conform to the ways of this world." If you commit yourself to the ways of such worldly girls, what image of a shepherd will that be, Father?

On the evening of May 16, we were again surprised when you preached in the Mass that "Hoang Duc Binh is a benefactor of the nation. The whole nation must be grateful to him." Father, that is absolutely not the case. Binh is a criminal who has been arrested. He may be your benefactor or someone else's, but he is never our benefactor. He has never been and will never be a benefactor of the nation!

That same evening, we saw the reactionary girl Emily being close to her father, eating dinner at the same table with him...

The Decree on Priestly Life has pointed out: “In social life, with both Catholics and non-Catholics, we must be upright in speech, in style, in behavior, in eating and drinking, and must be careful and considerate, because through the life of a priest, people must recognize the image of Jesus the Savior.”

As God's sheep, we have absolute trust in all the venerable priests. The church is a sacred place, the priest is the incarnation of God, why do you harbor reactionaries who spread hatred and divide the great national unity like Hoang Binh and Emily?

Binh is a criminal, he has been arrested. He may be your benefactor or someone else's but he will never be our benefactor. He has never been and will never be a benefactor of the nation!

The standards given to priests in the past are: Holiness, enthusiasm, becoming the salt of the earth and the lamp of the world. To achieve these standards, priests need to train themselves to be generous, enthusiastic, have a deep inner life, live simply, serve wholeheartedly, and be ready to dialogue without prejudice. We wish you to re-read the letter sent to the laity in 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI, which includes the passage: “Where people no longer perceive God, life becomes empty; everything becomes lacking, and people seek refuge in delusion or in violence.” Surely the Pope saw your actions 7 years ago.

The Second Vatican Council, Decree on the Ministry and Life of Priests, No. 2, reminded: “The life of a priest is both a journey of service to others and a journey of sanctification of one’s own person, to be worthy of being the image of the Most Holy One in the world.” The Church is in great need of good priests, to reflect the holiness of God in their lives. A holy priest has a great influence in the Church as well as in society. We do not want you to become the person the Holy Father warned about in his homily on Chrism Day in 2013: “... who have lost the anointing and do not have a pastoral heart.”

Then, surely Hoang Duc Binh's violations will be publicly judged; if that day, Binh reveals the violations of you, Emily, Bach Hong Quyen... then we dare not think about the situation in our parish at that time. For the flock, for God and for the peace of the country, I think you should stop before it is too late!
