Arrest of masked man who slashed a man with traumatic brain injury

Accordingly, at 9:00 p.m. on January 15, 2017, Nghia Dan District Police received a report from the public stating: At around 8:30 p.m. on January 15, 2017, an unidentified young man, about 30 years old, 1m70 tall, wearing black clothes, wearing a mask, holding a knife (about 60 cm long) entered the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet (born in 1960), residing in Nghia Lien Commune, Nghia Dan District, and repeatedly slashed Ms. Tuyet's head. As a result, Ms. Tuyet suffered a traumatic brain injury and had to be taken to Nghe An General Hospital for emergency treatment (currently in critical condition).

When Ms. Tuyet's husband and daughter discovered the crime, the suspect slashed and injured them and fled the scene, running towards Tan Thiet hamlet, Nghia Lien commune and hiding in the house of Ms. Luong Thi Phan's family (born in 1965), residing in Tan Thiet hamlet, Nghia Lien commune; while hiding, Ms. Phan discovered them, so the suspect used a fruit knife to cut her neck, then used a dashboard ball to hit Ms. Phan on the head. As a result, Ms. Phan was seriously injured and had to be taken to the Tay Bac Nghe An hospital for emergency treatment. After committing the crime at Ms. Phan's house, the suspect fled the scene.

Faced with that situation, Nghia Dan District Police, PC45, PC54 Department - Provincial Police coordinated with Quy Hop District Police, Quy Chau District Police to mobilize all forces to the area to verify, clarify the subject, and serve to solve the case.

After nearly 2 days of expanding the search in neighboring districts, at around 9:00 a.m. on January 17, the reconnaissance force discovered the suspect hiding at Sang Le intersection, in Tam Hop commune, Quy Hop district.

At the Nghia Dan District Police Investigation Agency, the suspect confessed his name to be Vi Van Dau (born in 1993), residing in Ngoc Lam Commune, Thanh Chuong District. Vi Van Dau is a long-term drug addict (about 7 years), with a previous conviction for drug-related crimes; Dau went to Nghia Dan District for about 3 days to find an acquaintance, but could not find him. On the night of January 15, Dau wandered around Hiep 3 Hamlet, Nghia Lien, Nghia Dan while in a drug-addiction attack. Due to not having money to buy drugs, he had the idea of ​​robbing someone and committed the crime in Nghia Lien Commune, Nghia Dan District.

Currently, Nghia Dan District Police are temporarily detaining the subject for further investigation and clarification./.
