(Baonghean.vn) - After nearly two days of expanding the search in neighboring districts, the reconnaissance force discovered Vi Van Dau hiding at Sang Le intersection, in Tam Hop commune, Quy Hop district.
On January 17th, at the Nghia Dan District Police headquarters, Mr. Le Hong Son, Chairman of the Nghia Dan District People's Committee, congratulated and awarded a "bonus" of 10 million VND to the District Police's Special Investigation Team for their swift resolution of a major crime that occurred in the district.
At the congratulatory meeting, the Chairman of the District People's Committee highly appreciated the spirit, responsibility, and prompt coordination of the police forces from the following units: PC45 and PC54 Departments of the Provincial Police, Quy Hop District Police, and Quy Chau District Police, in quickly identifying and successfully apprehending the perpetrator of the crime.

Accordingly, at 9 PM on January 15, 2017, the Nghia Dan District Police received a report from the public stating that at approximately 8:30 PM on January 15, 2017, an unidentified male suspect, around 30 years old, 1.70m tall, wearing black clothes and a face mask, and carrying a knife (approximately 60 cm long), entered the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet (born in 1960), residing in Nghia Lien commune, Nghia Dan district, and repeatedly slashed her head. As a result, Ms. Tuyet suffered a traumatic brain injury and was rushed to the Nghe An Friendship General Hospital for emergency treatment (currently in critical condition).
When Ms. Tuyet's husband and daughter discovered the attack, the assailant slashed them, injuring them, and fled the scene, running towards Tan Thiet hamlet, Nghia Lien commune, and hiding in the house of Ms. Luong Thi Phan (born in 1965), residing in Tan Thiet hamlet, Nghia Lien commune. While hiding, Ms. Phan discovered him, so the assailant used a fruit knife to slash her neck, then used a car dashboard tile to hit her head. As a result, Ms. Phan suffered serious injuries and had to be taken to Tay Bac Nghe An Hospital for emergency treatment. After committing the crime at Ms. Phan's house, the assailant fled the scene.

In response to this situation, the Nghia Dan District Police, the PC45 and PC54 departments of the Provincial Police, in coordination with the Quy Hop and Quy Chau District Police, mobilized all forces to the area to verify and identify the suspects, in order to solve the case.
After nearly two days of expanding the search in neighboring districts, at around 9:00 AM on January 17th, the reconnaissance team discovered the suspect hiding at the Sang Le intersection, in Tam Hop commune, Quy Hop district.
At the Nghia Dan District Police Investigation Agency, the suspect confessed his name was Vi Van Dau (born in 1993), residing in Ngoc Lam commune, Thanh Chuong district. Vi Van Dau is a long-time drug addict (approximately over 7 years) with one prior conviction for drug-related offenses. Dau had been in Nghia Dan district for about 3 days looking for an acquaintance, but couldn't find one. On the night of January 15th, while wandering around Hiep 3 hamlet, Nghia Lien commune, Nghia Dan district, experiencing withdrawal symptoms and lacking money to buy drugs, he decided to rob someone and committed the crime in Nghia Lien commune, Nghia Dan district.
The Nghia Dan District Police are currently holding the suspect in custody for further investigation.
