Emergency arrest of female scammer who defrauded beauty salon owner

(Baonghean.vn) - Pretending to apply for an apprenticeship at a beauty salon, Phuong invited the owner to go sing karaoke, borrowed her iPhone 6 to take a selfie, then disappeared.

On the afternoon of May 31, Major Vo Minh Duc - Deputy Chief of Le Loi Ward Police (Vinh City) said that he had just urgently arrested Tran Thi Ha Phuong (born in 1996, residing in Trung Do Ward, Vinh City) to investigate the act of Fraudulent appropriation of property.

According to police records, in mid-late May, Tran Thi Ha Phuong went to the beauty salon of Ms. Dang Thi Ngoc, residing in Doi Cung ward, Vinh city, to ask to learn a trade.

On May 26, when she saw that Nhat (Ngoc's son) had a SKY phone, Phuong asked to borrow it to access the internet. On the afternoon of May 26, Phuong told Ngoc that she would invite the owner's family to go to karaoke that evening with the reason that Phuong's parents would meet Ngoc to pay a deposit for Phuong to learn a trade.

Trusting, on the night of May 26, Ms. Ngoc, Phuong and some others went to sing karaoke at a bar in Le Loi ward. While singing, Phuong used the excuse of borrowing Ms. Ngoc's Iphone 6 to go to the lobby to take a "selfie". Thinking it was real, Ms. Phuong lent Phuong her Iphone 6.

Holding this phone, Phuong took a taxi and left the karaoke bar. Realizing she had been scammed, Ms. Ngoc reported it to the police.

Le Loi Ward Police sent many detectives to investigate and follow the trail of Tran Thi Ha Phuong. Through information sources, the detectives determined that after the fraud, Phuong and a number of other young people lived a vagrant life, gathered to use crystal meth and live a debauched life. They continuously hired taxis to change locations through many districts to "lose the tail" of the investigating agency.

At around 5:00 p.m. on May 31, when Tran Thi Ha Phuong was found drinking with several other people at Cua Lo beach, a task force from Le Loi Ward Police arrived to urgently arrest her.

Initially at the investigation agency, Phuong confessed to all his actions and said that on the night of May 26, after tricking the victim into taking her iPhone 6, along with the SKY phone borrowed from Ms. Ngoc's child that same day, Phuong sold these two phones for more than 9 million VND. All of this money was spent on partying and using drugs.

Investigators confirmed that Phuong had been using crystal meth since 2013. She had spent time in a reformatory. Le Loi Ward Police continued to investigate the case.
