Woman arrested for defrauding numerous people of nearly 47 billion VND.
The suspect, Nguyen Thi Hong Dao, provided numerous false pieces of information to defraud and embezzle nearly 47 billion VND from 7 individuals.
The Dak Nong Provincial Police announced that they have forwarded the case to the People's Procuratorate of the same level, requesting the prosecution of suspect Nguyen Thi Hong Dao (born in 1990), residing in Dak Wer commune, Dak R'lấp district, for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
In addition to suspect Nguyen Thi Hong Dao, the Dak Nong Provincial Police also recommended prosecuting four other suspects for the crime of "usurious lending in civil transactions".
According to initial information, due to needing capital for her business, Nguyen Thi Hong Dao borrowed money from many people for short periods at high interest rates. However, due to continuous business losses, Dao fell into debt.
To obtain funds to repay interest and principal on debts and maintain business operations, from September 2020 to September 2022, Dao provided information about close relationships with many bank officials, claiming to be collaborating to refinance bank loans; and about having business partnerships in real estate with many high-ranking individuals, needing to raise capital for business...
Then Dao offered high interest rates and profits to convince the victims to lend him money.
Dao even impersonated a bank employee, forging messages with bank officials to solicit loans for other people's refinancing...
After borrowing the money, Dao did not use it for business as previously stated, but instead used it to pay off revolving debts and for personal expenses.
According to the police, using the above methods, Dao defrauded and misappropriated nearly 47 billion VND from 7 individuals. In addition, Dao also owes 42 billion VND to 28 other individuals.
Regarding the suspect Nguyen Thi Hong Dao, during the investigation, the police agency clarified that four individuals in Dak R'lap district lent Dao a total of 5.7 billion VND with interest rates ranging from 100.26% to 200.75% per year, resulting in illegal profits totaling nearly 1.2 billion VND.
