Young man arrested for breaking into two ATMs to steal money.
The police in Thai Hoa town (Nghe An province) announced that they have issued an emergency detention order against Ho Viet Anh for breaking into an ATM to steal property.
Earlier, at 8:00 AM on November 2, 2024, the Thai Hoa Town Police received a report from Sacombank and Vietcombank, Thai Hoa Branch, located in Hoa Hieu Ward, Thai Hoa Town, regarding two bank ATMs being broken into by thieves.

Upon receiving the report, the Thai Hoa town police quickly arrived at the scene, took witness statements, examined the scene, and extracted footage from the ATM's cameras and nearby systems.tracking down the suspect.
Through the extraction of security camera footage, the police task force of Thai Hoa town determined that at approximately 1:30 AM on November 2, 2024, a male suspect, wearing a hooded jacket and with his face covered, rode a Honda Future motorcycle to a Sacombank ATM and used a sharp object (suspected to be a knife) to pry open the ATM. The suspect then moved on and attempted the same action at a Vietcombank ATM, but was unsuccessful in stealing any money.
In just one day of investigation and verification, using a coordinated approach with various professional methods and tracing the suspect's tracks at the scene, at 11:00 AM on November 3, 2024, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Thai Hoa Town Police issued an emergency detention order against Ho Viet Anh (born in 2001), residing in Nghia Thinh commune, Nghia Dan district, for the act of breaking into the two ATMs mentioned above. They also seized a motorbike, a sword, and several other items and documents related to the case.
At the investigative agency, Ho Viet Anh confessed that due to his gambling addiction and lack of money, he broke into the ATM to steal money. The case is currently being investigated further by the Thai Hoa Town Police.
