Unexpectedly received money back after being mistakenly transferred two years ago.
A woman in Ha Tinh was surprised to receive a phone call from the local police informing her to come and collect money that had been mistakenly transferred to her account two years ago.
On the afternoon of January 6th, Captain Nguyen Hoang Anh, Head of the Dien Thinh Commune Police Station, Dien Chau District, Nghe An Province, announced that the unit had returned mistakenly transferred money to a woman after it had been lost for two years.
It is known that on January 18, 2023, due to an oversight, Ms. Ho Thi Le Na (born in 1994), residing in Nam Hong ward, Hong Linh town (Ha Tinh province), mistakenly transferred 15 million VND to the account of Ms. HTM (born in 1989), residing in Dien Thinh commune, Dien Chau district (Nghe An province).
However, unable to contact the account holder, Ms. Na contacted the Dien Thinh Commune Police where Ms. HTM resided and learned that Ms. HTM had gone to work abroad. At that time, Ms. Na left her information following the procedures instructed by the Commune Police.
In January 2025, upon learning that Ms. HTM had returned to Vietnam to visit her family, the Dien Thinh Commune Police proactively contacted her to check her account. It was discovered that this was the account number provided to Ms. HTM by VSIP Company for receiving her salary, but since she no longer worked there, the account was no longer in use. After verifying the information and confirming the mistaken transfer, Ms. HTM withdrew the 15 million VND that Ms. Na had mistakenly transferred to her.

Unexpectedly receiving a call from the Dien Thinh Commune Police, Ms. Ho Thi Le Na never thought she would get her money back after nearly two years. "Due to carelessness, I transferred the money to the wrong account. Knowing the recipient was overseas, I accepted the loss. When I received the call from the commune police, I was very surprised. I never thought that at the end of the year, near Tet (Lunar New Year), I would receive this special 'gift'," Ms. Le Na shared.

On January 6, 2025, after receiving the money back, Ms. Le Na wrote a letter of thanks to the Dien Thinh Commune Police for helping her recover the money after two years.
