Unexpectedly received money back after 2 years of mistaken transfer
A woman in Ha Tinh was surprised when she received a phone call from the commune police informing her to come and pick up money that had been mistakenly transferred 2 years ago.
On the afternoon of January 6, Captain Nguyen Hoang Anh - Head of Dien Thinh Commune Police, Dien Chau District, Nghe An Province, said that the unit had just returned the mistakenly transferred money to a woman after 2 years of loss.
It is known that on January 18, 2023, due to negligence, Ms. Ho Thi Le Na (born in 1994), residing in Nam Hong ward, Hong Linh town, (Ha Tinh province) mistakenly transferred 15 million VND to the account number of Ms. HTM (born in 1989), residing in Dien Thinh commune, Dien Chau district (Nghe An province).
However, because she could not contact the account owner, Ms. Na contacted the Dien Thinh Commune Police where Ms. HTM resided and was told that Ms. HTM had gone to work abroad. At that time, Ms. Na left her information according to the procedures instructed by the Commune Police.
In January 2025, upon learning that Ms. HTM had returned to Vietnam to visit her family, Dien Thinh Commune Police proactively contacted her to check her account. It is known that this is the account number that Ms. HTM was given by VSIP Company to receive her salary, but because she no longer works there, the account is no longer in use. After verifying the correct information with the wrongly transferred amount, Ms. HTM withdrew the 15 million VND that Ms. Na had mistakenly transferred to her.

"Due to carelessness, I transferred the wrong account number, knowing that the recipient was abroad, I determined that the money had been lost. When I received the call from the Commune Police, I was very surprised, I did not think that at the end of the year, near Tet, I would receive this special "gift", Ms. Le Na shared.
