Gold company employee arrested for defrauding over 1.1 billion VND
On December 18, the Department of Investigation Police on Economic Management and Position Crimes (PC46, Ho Chi Minh City) issued a decision to prosecute, urgently arrest, search Ngo Van Tam's house, and investigate the act of fraud and property appropriation.

According to the police, Tam (47 years old, residing in District 8, Ho Chi Minh City) is a gold quality appraisal technician at a gold and silver trading and pawn shop of SJC Saigon Company (District 11, Ho Chi Minh City).
From May 2007 to November 2011, taking advantage of his colleagues' trust, Tam repeatedly bought fake gold and pawned it at the gold shop where he worked to get money to spend.
At the end of 2014, Tam's criminal behavior was discovered by SJC Saigon Company. Through inspection, Tam had held 87 fake gold packages, embezzling more than 1.1 billion VND.
During the investigation of the case, Tam voluntarily returned 147 million VND to SJC Company to remedy the consequences. Up to now, Tam has not been able to pay the remaining 961 million VND.
