Police arrest football betting ring with transactions totaling nearly 100 billion VND.
A football betting ring with transactions totaling nearly 100 billion VND has been dismantled. 11 individuals have been charged and arrested.
On February 4th, the police in Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province, initiated a criminal case and indicted 11 defendants residing in Dong Trach, Duc Trach, and Hai Phu communes in connection with gambling activities.
Previously, the Cyber Security Department of the Quang Binh Provincial Police, in coordination with the Bo Trach District Police, the Cyber Security Department (Ministry of Public Security), and other professional departments of the provincial police, simultaneously summoned and investigated numerous individuals involved in gambling and organizing gambling activities in the form of football betting.

The investigation determined that from September to December 2024, Nguyen Thanh Hai (born in 1979, residing in Hai Phu commune, Bo Trach district) contacted an individual in Hanoi to purchase a level 2 agent account (Master level) on the Bong... website.
From this account, Hai created a level 3 agent account and player accounts (member level) to distribute to many individuals in Bo Trach district to participate in gambling in the form of football betting.
The unit of transaction on the football betting website is conventionally defined as "dollars" (points). Based on collected documents and evidence, it has been determined that from October to November 30, 2024, dozens of Member accounts directly participated in football betting with over 1.5 million points (equivalent to nearly 100 billion VND).
Nguyen Thanh Hai gave Le Van Huy (born in 1991, residing in Hai Phu commune) a Master account to be in charge of creating Member accounts with points, then sending the information back to Hai for management and distribution to gamblers.
The parties agreed to settle the winnings in cash or via bank transfer.
Based on the evidence gathered, authorities arrested nine more individuals: Ho Minh Hau (born 1991), Phan Thanh Hien (born 1985), Ho Thang Loi (born 1983), all residing in Hai Phu commune; Ho Dang Kiem (born 1984), Ho Hai Bang (born 1981), both residing in Duc Trach commune; Duong Thanh Thuong (born 1987), Phan Van Lam (born 1975), Duong Van Lan (born 1974), Pham Duc Toan (born 1983), all residing in Dong Trach commune, Bo Trach district.
Investigators seized 12 mobile phones, 1 computer, 14.5 million VND, and numerous related documents. The case is under further investigation.
