Thinking that a group of young men including Tran Duc Long were looking at them, Tran Van Nam's group started a fight and the two sides got into a fight, leading to the murder.

On August 10, the Investigation Police Agency of Ha Nam Province Police initiated a criminal case and detained 10 suspects to investigate the acts of murder and disturbing public order.

According to Ha Nam Police, the 10 suspects in criminal detention are all in their 90s, including: Nguyen Dinh Hoat, Tran Van Nam, Nguyen Van Tien, Tran Van Hung, Tran Van Manh, Ngo Van Thang, Tran Van Tinh, Tran Hoang Quan (all residing in Phu Phuc commune, Ly Nhan district), Tran Huu Tuyen, Tran Sy Tai (all residing in Tien Thang commune, Ly Nhan district).

According to investigation documents, at around 11pm on August 6, while eating and drinking at a snail restaurant (in hamlet 4, Nhan My commune, Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam), a group of young people from Nhan Dao commune (Ly Nhan district, Ha Nam) including Tran Duc Long looked at them, and Tran Van Nam's group (Phu Phuc commune) started a fight and the two sides got into a fight.

Nam's group called Hoat's group and Manh's group to bring a pig-slaughtering knife and 2 knives to join the fight. Hoat used the knife to slash Long's neck, causing his death.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Ha Nam Province Police is consolidating the case file and handling the case according to the provisions of law.
