Believing that the group of young men, including Tran Duc Long, were giving them dirty looks, Tran Van Nam's group provoked a fight, which escalated into a brawl and resulted in a fatal incident.

On August 10th, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Ha Nam Provincial Police Department initiated a case and temporarily detained 10 individuals for investigation into acts of murder and disturbing public order.

According to the Ha Nam Provincial Police, the 10 individuals detained are all in their 20s (born in the 1990s): Nguyen Dinh Hoat, Tran Van Nam, Nguyen Van Tien, Tran Van Hung, Tran Van Manh, Ngo Van Thang, Tran Van Tinh, Tran Hoang Quan (all residing in Phu Phuc commune, Ly Nhan district), Tran Huu Tuyen, and Tran Sy Tai (both residing in Tien Thang commune, Ly Nhan district).

According to the investigation documents, at approximately 11 PM on August 6th, while drinking and eating at a snail restaurant (located in Hamlet 4, Nhan My Commune, Ly Nhan District, Ha Nam Province), Tran Van Nam's group (from Phu Phuc Commune) provoked a fight, claiming that a group of young men from Nhan Dao Commune (Ly Nhan District, Ha Nam Province), including Tran Duc Long, were giving them dirty looks.

Nam's group called in Hoat's group and Manh's group, who brought along one pig-slaughtering knife and two swords to join the melee. Hoat used a sword to slash Long in the neck, causing his death.

Currently, the Investigation Police Department of Ha Nam province is consolidating the case file and handling the case according to the law.
