The subjects used homemade knives with iron pipes attached to them as weapons to threaten and attack in order to rob phones, including one case of the victim being injured.

Given the seriousness of the incident, identifying a group of subjects with reckless and dangerous criminal behavior, directly affecting the security and order of the industrial park, the Board of Directors of Vinh Phuc Provincial Police has directed the Criminal Police Department to coordinate with functional departments and the police of communes and towns around the industrial park to conduct an investigation, urgently collect evidence, and isolate the suspects.
Through professional measures, at around 9:30 p.m. on April 17, the Criminal Police Department's working group arrested Dang Duy Hung while he was hiding in a karaoke bar in Ba Hien town (Binh Xuyen). Then, at around 10:30 p.m. the same day, the working group arrested La Quang Ha while he was transporting staff to the karaoke bar. At 10:30 p.m., the working group arrested Hoang Van Them while he was hiding at his house in Yen Binh district.
At the police station, the subjects initially confessed that Hung and Them had known each other when they worked together at Compal Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Ba Hien town). They knew that most of the workers in the company were from other provinces (highlands), renting accommodation in the area around the company, so they often walked. When they finished work in the evening, the road to the accommodation had no electricity, few people passed by, the workers did not go in groups but went alone or in pairs and used their phones as lights.
After inviting each other to rob property, from April 12 to 14, Hung and Them continuously committed many robberies. Specifically, on April 12, seeing Mr. LVH (born in 2009) and Mr. LVN (born in 2008), both from Ha Giang province, after work, walking back to their rented room in Thien Ke commune, Hung and Them rode a motorbike without a license plate, used a homemade knife to block and threaten the victims, and at the same time robbed Mr. N of an Iphone XS Max, worth 7 million VND.
From about 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on April 14, Hung and Them continued to use the above tricks to rob 2 phones of victims VAĐ, from Ha Giang province, and GAT, from Yen Bai province. At about 8:30 p.m. on the same day, Mr. SAC (born in 2003), from Lao Cai province, on his way home from work, when he reached a section of road in Ba Thien Industrial Park (about 500m from the entrance to Thien Ke commune), he was suddenly blocked and threatened by Hung and Them on a motorbike. Seeing that Mr. C did not hand over his phone, the group used a knife to slash his left hand, causing injury. Mr. C ran away, so the two subjects could not rob the phone.
In the case of Ms. NTT (born in 1976), residing in Thanh Hoa province, riding a motorbike on Highway 310, in Ba Hien town, Hung and Them approached and threatened to force her to hand over her property. However, Ms. T accelerated her motorbike and escaped.
