Authorities arrest gang specializing in motorcycle theft in rice-growing region.
(Baonghean.vn) - Authorities have arrested five individuals belonging to a gang specializing in theft and the sale of stolen property. Initially, the suspects confessed to committing 10 thefts.
In mid-December 2021, after receiving reports from local residents about property theft, the Yen Thanh District Police quickly verified the information, established a special investigation case, and arrested three suspects: Tran Van Vu (born in 1995), Nguyen Van Nham (born in 1994), both residing in Do Thanh commune; and Tran Van Dong (born in 1998), residing in Lien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, for the crime of property theft.
Expanding the investigation, the special task force arrested two more individuals for the crime of receiving stolen property: Pham Dinh Hoa (born in 1981) and Ho Van Hung (born in 1986), both residing in Dien Ky commune, Dien Chau district.

At the investigative agency, Tran Van Vu, Nguyen Van Nham, and Tran Van Dong confessed to their crimes. According to their confessions, from July 2021 to the present, they committed 10 thefts of property (motorcycles), which they then sold to Pham Dinh Hoa and Ho Van Hung.
According to the police, the suspects' modus operandi was to exploit people's carelessness, such as leaving motorcycles parked in unattended areas, to steal them and then sell them for personal gain. To carry out the crime, the suspects prepared tools to cut gate locks before breaking into people's homes and stealing motorcycles.
By December 22nd, the special task force had seized 10 motorcycles of various types – evidence from theft cases – with a total value of over 130 million VND.
Currently, the Yen Thanh District Police are finalizing the case files to prosecute the suspects in accordance with the law.
