Police arrest group of suspects who assaulted driver and vandalized car.
Due to a conflict on the road, the group of individuals stopped the car to vandalize it and chase after the driver.
Today (March 23), the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency arrested a group of suspects led by Thai Kiet Huy (41 years old, residing in District 10) for investigation and prosecution regarding the acts of "Disrupting public order" and "Destruction of property".
Earlier, in mid-March, a video circulated on social media showing a group of people blocking a car, vandalizing it, cursing, and chasing after the driver.
According to the investigation, at approximately 11:30 PM on March 10th, Mr. TVT (28 years old, from Binh Thuan province) was driving a ride-hailing taxi on Le Van Duyet street, heading from Cau Bong bridge to Phan Dang Luu street (Ward 1, Binh Thanh district).
Because he was in a hurry, Mr. T. suddenly swerved from the roadside, causing Huy, who was riding a motorbike with a woman named M. behind him, to brake sharply and fall to the ground. Huy and M. then chased after him, demanding that Mr. T. get off the motorbike to talk.
When Mr. T.'s car stopped at the red light at the Le Van Duyet - Phan Dang Luu intersection, Huy and M. started cursing and insulting Mr. T. A heated argument ensued between the two sides.
Huy and M.'s group of friends and relatives happened to be passing by, saw the incident, and joined in the cursing and vandalizing Th.'s car, damaging the rearview mirror.
Mr. Th. reacted by recording the incident on his phone, but the group of assailants chased after him and attacked him.
When passersby intervened, the suspects got into their vehicle and drove away. The ride-hailing taxi driver immediately reported the incident to the Police Station of Ward 1, Binh Thanh District.
Following an investigation, the police arrested Huy and his accomplices and are currently assessing the value of the damaged property to determine the appropriate legal action.
