Police arrest group of young men for scamming over 4 billion VND through Facebook loans.
Nam, Hung, and Tinh stole the Facebook passwords of hundreds of people, impersonating them to borrow nearly 4 billion VND in one month.
On February 28, the police in Nhu Xuan district arrested Le Quang Nam (25 years old), Le Dinh Hung (24 years old), and Tran Minh Tinh (26 years old, all from Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province) to investigate their involvement in fraud and appropriation of property.

According to authorities, the three suspects gained control of Facebook accounts belonging to Vietnamese communities in Japan and Singapore by guessing passwords or creating fake Facebook accounts with similar interfaces.
Having obtained the personal information and chat history of each account holder, they impersonated them and sent messages to their relatives in Vietnam to borrow money, ask them to buy things, purchase phone cards, or send money for tuition fees... Many victims believed them and transferred money to the account numbers they sent.
Authorities estimate that in February, the three suspects defrauded hundreds of people of nearly 4 billion VND.
Anyone who is a victim should contact the Nhu Xuan District Police (Thanh Hoa) for assistance in resolving the matter.
