Interprovincial motorbike theft gang arrested

Through the investigation, Vinh City Police discovered on social networks that some groups of young people in the city and some districts were contacting and colluding with each other to commit motorbike theft in apartment buildings, boarding houses and public places.

The subjects often contact each other via high-tech applications such as Zalo, Messenger, Viber, Telegram, etc. Then, they make appointments at apartments, motels and public places, taking advantage of the lack of supervision of security guards and residents to commit acts of theft. During the process, the subjects often wear masks, assign specific tasks and then use valves to break the vehicle locks to steal. After committing the crime, they contact and connect with other subjects to consume, take the money and share it for personal use.

Considering the serious nature of the subjects' actions, with signs of a network or gang, Vinh City Police have established a special project, concentrating forces and means to fight.

On September 14, 2024, flexibly applying professional measures, the Special Task Force coordinated with Team 373 of the City Police to eradicate an inter-provincial property theft gang, successfully arresting 03 subjects N. D.T (born 2006); NVHD (born 2008), both residing in Yen Giang block, Vinh Tan ward, Vinh city and NLVM (born in 2008), residing in Tan Quang block, Le Mao ward, Vinh city for the act of property theft.

Initially, the Vinh City Police Investigation Agency determined that the subjects dropped out of school, refused to work, were idle and addicted to games, so they persuaded each other to commit theft in Vinh City and neighboring areas of Ha Tinh Province to sell for money. It is known that subject D. played the role of mastermind, directly breaking the lock, the remaining subjects acted as lookouts, when detecting any movement, they signaled the group to escape. Subject T. alone had a criminal record for robbery and intentional injury.

Using that method and trick, from the beginning of September to September 14, 2024, the subjects committed 05 motorbike thefts in Vinh city and 10 cases in Ha Tinh province, taking away 10 motorbikes, worth more than 200 million VND.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Vinh City Police has issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and temporarily detain N. D. T. and NVHD for the crimes of theft of property and consumption of property obtained by others through crime.
