Authorities busted an illegal lottery ring with nearly 2 billion VND seized.

(Baonghean.vn) - After more than two weeks of investigation, the Nam Dan District Police have busted a multi-billion VND lottery ring, arresting a married couple who ran the lottery operation, and many other lottery players in the area.

After receiving reports, the Nam Dan District Police established a special investigation codenamed 916LD to focus on combating and eradicating the crime. Through gathering information and monitoring several key individuals involved, the investigation team identified Le Thi Sen (born in 1980), residing in Mau 6 hamlet, Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district, as a crucial link in the case.

On October 22nd, police caught Le Thi Sen and Le Thi Anh (born in 1969), residing in Hamlet 3, Hung Dao Commune, Hung Nguyen District, red-handed for gambling in the form of lottery and number betting at their private residence. Evidence seized included 8 mobile phones, 3 lottery and number betting books, and 10,000,000 VND in cash.

On November 14th, Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Nghia Thanh, Head of the General Investigation Team of the Nam Dan District Police, stated: "Identifying Sen and her husband, Hoang Nghia Hung, as important links in the case, the police force has been closely monitoring these individuals."

Immediately after arresting Sen, the special task force continued its investigation, expanding the scope and clarifying the gambling activities of three other individuals: Pham Van Hung (born in 1993), residing in Hamlet 11, Nam Linh Commune; Nguyen Huu Duc (born in 1987); and Hoang Nghia Hung (Sen's husband), both residing in Mau 6 Hamlet, Kim Lien Commune, Nam Dan District. During a search of Sen's residence, the police seized a black travel bag; a set of police uniforms for spring/summer; and three swords, each 1.5 meters long. Regarding the fake police uniform, Sen's husband, Hoang Nghia Hung, confessed to buying it online.

Initially, the police determined that the amount of money wagered on lottery and betting through Sen was very large, sometimes reaching nearly 200 million VND per day. The total amount of gambling conducted through lottery and betting uncovered in this case has reached nearly 2 billion VND.

Currently, the Nam Dan District Police have initiated criminal proceedings, charged the suspects, and are continuing to expand and investigate the case.
