Authorities have arrested a suspect for using forged documents to pawn a car.
After renting a car and forging documents with a friend to pawn it for money to spend, both were arrested by the Binh Thuan Provincial Police.
On August 8th, the Investigation Police Department of Binh Thuan province, in coordination with the People's Procuracy of Binh Thuan province, executed an order to arrest and detain Huynh Duc Trung Nguyen (born in 2002, residing in Phu Thuy ward, Phan Thiet city) on charges of "Abusing trust to appropriate property" and "Using forged documents of an agency or organization".
Regarding the case, the Binh Thuan Provincial Police Investigation Agency had previously initiated a criminal case, indicted the suspect, and temporarily detained Luu Thach Phi (born in 1994, residing in Phu Trinh Ward, Phan Thiet City) on the same charge.
On March 6, 2024, Phi rented a Hyundai Tucson car with license plate 93A-204.85 from Mr. NLCT in Phan Thiet City for his use. Afterward, Phi hired someone to forge an ID card and vehicle registration certificate for the car 93A-204.85 under the name Huynh Duc Trung Nguyen, a friend of Phi's. On March 10, Phi and Nguyen took the car 93A-204.85 along with the forged documents to Minh Duc pawn shop in Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province, to pawn it for 450 million VND. They spent all of this money.
The case is currently being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Binh Thuan Provincial Police.
