Head of Tan Ky Protective Forest Management Board arrested and detained.
Authorities have just served the decision to prosecute and temporarily detain the Head of the Tan Ky Protective Forest Management Board.
On January 10, 2025, the Security Investigation Agency of the Nghe An Provincial Police announced that yesterday (January 9, 2025), they had initiated criminal proceedings and temporarily detained Dinh Van Hai - Head of the Tan Ky Protective Forest Management Board and Cao Tien Hanh - former Head of the Tan Ky Protective Forest Management Board, on the same charge of "negligence causing serious consequences" under Article 360 of the Penal Code.

Previously, on December 30, 2022, after receiving a complaint alleging that the Management Board of the Tan Ky District Protective Forest (Nghe An province) had committed violations, fabricating acceptance and settlement documents in the implementation of the JICA2 project from 2014 to 2018, causing losses and waste of state and foreign investor funds, the Forest Protection Department launched an investigation. The subsequent verification report confirmed that 81.65 hectares of forest out of a total of 165.23 hectares contracted for protection in 2019 differed from reality according to the records. This included over 52 hectares of planted forest under the JICA2 project.
Upon receiving the report, on November 24, 2024, the Security Investigation Agency of the Nghe An Provincial Police issued a decision to initiate a criminal case for investigation and clarification.
After a period of investigation, on January 9, 2025, the Security Investigation Agency of the Nghe An Provincial Police Department initiated criminal proceedings and temporarily detained Dinh Van Hai and Cao Tien Manh to continue serving the investigation.
