Authorities apprehended a wooden boat using makeshift devices that employ electric shocks to catch seafood.
(Baonghean.vn) - The patrol team of the Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port Border Guard Station, Nghe An Border Guard Command, coordinated to arrest 3 vessels for using homemade tools and electric shock devices to illegally catch aquatic products, and for using trawls to catch aquatic products in violation of the regulations in their fishing permits.

At approximately 10 PM on June 13th, in the fishing island area 3 nautical miles from the shore, a patrol team from the Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port Border Guard Post, Nghe An Border Guard Command, in coordination with the 33rd Company of the Fishing Island, Nghe An Military Command, discovered two unregistered wooden boats captained by Dau Van Chung (born 1973) and Nghiem Van Thanh (born 1980), residing in Hai Thuong commune, Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province, engaging in illegal fishing using homemade electric shock devices. A large quantity of electrical wire, homemade guns, and air compressors were confiscated.

Also on the night of June 3rd, at midnight in the sea area of Nghi Loc district, 5 nautical miles from the shore, the patrol team of the Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port Border Guard Station discovered and apprehended fishing vessel NA 90779TS, captained by Mr. Nguyen Van Hong (born in 1978), residing in Block 6, Nghi Thuy Ward, Cua Lo town, for using a trawl to catch aquatic products in violation of the fishing area specified in the permit.
Currently, the Cua Lo - Ben Thuy Port Border Guard Station is finalizing the case file for processing according to the law.
