'Batman v Superman' and 'Zoolander 2' lead nominations for the 2017 Golden Raspberry Awards.

The most embarrassing film awards of the year have officially announced their nominations. "Batman v Superman" was sadly nominated in a staggering eight categories.

On January 23rd, the organizers of the Golden Raspberry Awards announced the nominations for the 37th annual awards, featuring a host of disappointing cinematic "disasters" from 2016. Among them, the superhero film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice received eight nominations, including Worst Picture, Worst Actor (Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill), Worst Supporting Actor (Jesse Eisenberg), Worst Collaboration, Worst Sequel, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Director (Zack Snyder).

Despite generating significant media attention and bringing in nearly $900 million in revenue, Batman v Superman was heavily criticized by critics for its plot and the disjointed performances of its actors.

Among these nominations, perhaps the most unfair is Ben Affleck's appearance in the Worst Actor category, as his portrayal of Batman in Batman v Superman was considered quite solid despite having to act against a clumsy script.

Despite receiving eight nominations, Batman v Superman is not yet the "king" in this year's Golden Raspberry Awards race. One nomination ahead of the DC Comics film is the box office flop Zoolander 2, starring Ben Stiller. This is the sequel to the comedy of the same name produced in 2001.

It seemed as though Zoolander 2, after a 15-year hiatus, might return with a funnier plot. However, not only was it heavily criticized by film critics, but it was also largely ignored, grossing only $56 million despite featuring many famous actors.

Besides the two names mentioned above, the Worst Film category also includes Lionsgate's Gods of Egypt, Independence Day 2: Resurgence, Dirty Grandpa (a vulgar comedy starring Robert De Niro and Zac Efron), and Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party.

Notably, this year's race for the Golden Raspberry Awards for Best Actress also features a host of beauties such as Megan Fox in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Julia Roberts in Mother's Day, Becky Turner in Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, Naomi Watts and Shailene Woodley in Divergent Series: Allegiant, and especially comedian Tyler Perry's cross-dressing performance in Boo! A Madea Halloween.

The winner of the Golden Raspberry Award is presented with a golden raspberry-shaped statue worth approximately $4.97. The Golden Raspberry Awards ceremony takes place on the night of February 24th, one day before the 2017 Oscars, and most of the award-winning actors rarely dare to attend to receive their award.
