On economic issues, Vice President Harris criticized Trump's record and outlined her own views, stating: "We are charting a new path forward, toward a future with a strong middle class, and building that middle class will be a defining goal of my presidency." Harris promised to build an economy that provides opportunities for competition and success for all, including tax cuts for the middle class, where she comes from.
Regarding the issue of abortion, Harris accused Trump of personally selecting members of the U.S. Supreme Court to strip women of their reproductive rights, and claimed that too many women in America are now unable to make such decisions.
In addition, Harris criticized Trump as someone who doesn't take things seriously, and said the consequences of bringing him back to the White House would be extremely serious.

The former prosecutor cited Trump's conviction in a New York fraud case as well as the verdict against him in the defamation case against writer E. Jean Carroll.
The crowd at the United Center – the venue for the Democratic National Convention – chanted in unison, “we’re not coming back,” in response to Harris’s critical remarks about the 45th president.

Addressing border security, one of the issues most heavily criticized by Republicans, the Democratic presidential candidate noted that the Biden-Harris administration, along with Republican members of Congress, had drafted a bipartisan bill to address the influx of immigrants. Vice President Harris also criticized former President Donald Trump for his actions, accusing the 45th occupant of the White House of “ordering allies in Congress to cancel” the bill to benefit himself during the campaign. She emphasized, “I refuse to play politics with our security,” while pledging to “bring about a bipartisan border security bill” and affirming she would sign it into law.

Vice President Harris has strongly defended Ukraine and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), while criticizing past comments by former Republican President Donald Trump regarding the war in Ukraine.
In her closing remarks at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), Harris affirmed: “As President, I will stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine and our NATO allies.” Vice President Harris noted that, five days before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, she warned President Zelensky and helped lead the U.S. diplomatic response in rallying “more than 50 nations” into a common front to support Ukraine.
Regarding the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, Harris stated she would stand up for Israel's right to self-defense, but added that the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip was "devastating" and "heartbreaking." She shared: "President Biden and I are working to end this war, to ensure Israel is safe, the hostages are released, the suffering in Gaza ends, and the Palestinian people can realize their rights to dignity, security, freedom, and self-determination."
