Hungarian parliamentary elections: Orban comments on the defeat.
The results of the recent Hungarian parliamentary elections have created a major political earthquake. Viktor Orban officially admitted complete defeat to the opposition and revealed his biggest regret.

According to RIA Novosti, in an exclusive interview with the Patriota news portal, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban called the ruling party's defeat in the vote "clear and on a large scale".
"The numbers speak for themselves. This is a clear defeat. We received 2.3 million votes, while our opponent reached 3.1 million," Orban frankly shared.
According to Viktor Orban, the Fidesz party aimed to win 3 million votes. This figure was intended to secure the political strength needed to continue the country's reforms. However, the election campaign was based on a miscalculation. They assumed that voter turnout would not far exceed the 70% of previous elections.
The facts proved otherwise. The leader took responsibility for the defeat. Orban pledged to thoroughly analyze the root causes, specifically why the group of "voters who previously didn't vote but this time did" cast their votes against the Fidesz party.
Mr. Orban considers the unfinished construction of the Paks II Nuclear Power Plant his biggest failure. Pointing out the cause, he stated that the construction is stalled. He firmly believes that the Hungarian economy would have had a much greater advantage if the project had been implemented sooner.
Currently, the Paks II nuclear power plant supplies nearly half of Hungary's total electricity production. This proportion is expected to double. This plan is based on the expansion of the Rosatom project (Russia) with two new units. National leaders have repeatedly emphasized the importance of the project, considering nuclear energy key to ensuring energy security.
The voting process took place amidst exceptional tension. After counting 98.9% of the votes, the opposition Tisza party, led by Peter Magyar, had a significant lead over the Fidesz party. Tisza is expected to win 136 out of 199 seats in the legislature. Orban's party now has only 57 seats. The final official results will be approved before the evening of April 18th.
