The closing ceremony of the 2025 United Nations Day of Vesak was solemnly held at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City (Binh Chanh District) on the morning of May 8.

In his closing speech, Permanent Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu, said that the 20th United Nations Vesak Festival solemnly took place in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the brilliant flags and jubilant celebration of the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification.
According to the VenerableThich Thanh Nhieu, this year's Vesak celebration received more than 1,000 presentations focusing on the theme: "Solidarity and tolerance for human dignity: Buddhist wisdom for world peace and sustainable development". This once again affirms that, in Buddhist teachings, the philosophy of solidarity and tolerance are two core elements that express the spirit of compassion, wisdom and aim for the common happiness and peace of the community, the sustainable development of each nation and people.
Solidarity and tolerance are not only Buddhist moral doctrines, but also forever the guiding principles for people's thoughts, words and actions to build a peaceful society, with less conflict and full of love.
According to Most Venerable Prof. Dr. Brahmapundit, Chairman of the International Committee for the UN Day of Vesak, using the Dharma to build peace, Vesak 2025 is an unforgettable mark. Speaking at the Closing Ceremony, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh said that the ceremony was a great success. The ceremony also took place at a very special time when the entire Vietnamese people solemnly celebrated the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification; towards the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and are actively preparing to enter a new era, an era of prosperity and happiness for the nation.
