Closing Ceremony of the 2016 Nghe Tinh Folk Song Festival (Vi and Giam Style)
(Baonghean.vn) - After three days of lively events, the 2016 Nghe Tinh Folk Song Festival concluded on the evening of October 19th at Ho Chi Minh Square.
Attending the ceremony were members of the Standing Committee of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee: Dang Quoc Vinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Hoang Trung Dung - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department.
Representing Nghe An province were Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and representatives from the leadership of various departments, agencies, districts, cities, and towns.

Nine performances, selected from 75 entries submitted by 25 folk singing clubs from Nghe Tinh participating in the festival, were featured at the closing ceremony.
In his closing speech at the festival, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Pham Tien Dung emphasized: This is the third time the Nghe Tinh Folk Song Festival has been organized from the grassroots level to the provincial and inter-provincial levels. This activity not only affirms the enduring value of Vi and Giam folk songs, but also creates a large stage for folk art to compete and showcase its beauty. At the same time, it demonstrates the responsibility of the two provinces, localities, and especially the numerous artisans and performers in promoting and honoring the Vi and Giam folk song heritage after its recognition as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The clubs closely followed the regulations set forth by the Festival Organizing Committee to build programs with a tight, logical structure and layout, ensuring the program duration, theme, genre, and form of expression, with serious investment in staging and many new creative ideas of high artistic value.

It is noteworthy that, in addition to established artisans, this festival featured many talented young faces, many young singers with sweet voices performing folk songs and skillfully adapting the Ví and Giặm melodies from ancient texts.
In summary, the Organizing Committee awarded 25 A prizes, 25 B prizes, and 15 C prizes to the performances; 2 First prizes, 3 Second prizes, and 6 B prizes to the clubs. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also presented certificates of merit to the clubs, artisans, artists, and actors.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded supplementary prizes: the oldest artist with the most outstanding performance; the youngest artist with the most outstanding performance; the club with the most effective use of orchestra; and the club with the most effective use of stage art.
