Baylie-Grey, UK, hospitalized with facial rash, coma, herpes virus infection.

The baby's mother, Hayley Etheridge, said: "I was surprised to learn that my baby had herpes, as it is usually only transmitted sexually."

Hayley shared on July 31 that when she saw her son with a red rash all over his face and in a coma, she quickly took him to the hospital. Doctors concluded that the boy was infected with the herpes virus (also known as HSV1) and warned that if the virus spread to his eyes, he could go blind. Worse, the doctor said that the 35-week-old fetus in Hayley's womb was also at high risk of contracting the virus.

Hayley believes baby Baylie contracted the herpes virus after a relative kissed him on the cheek. Fortunately, Baylie's health returned to normal after treatment at the hospital. Hayley's second son, Cito, was born later, without any signs of herpes.

Baylie's red face is caused by the herpes virus.

Herpes virus is transmitted through skin contact or saliva, spreading rapidly. After a few weeks of infection, symptoms begin to appear, patients may experience tingling, burning, and pain in the skin, especially around the mouth. About 67% of people under 49 have been infected with this virus.

Infants and toddlers infected with the herpes virus can suffer very serious complications, including blindness, brain damage, and even death.

Once the herpes virus enters the human body, it will never be completely eliminated. Currently, medicine has only found ways to alleviate the symptoms for patients. Hayley shares her story with the hope of advising people not to kiss young children to avoid the risk of contracting the virus.
