Three-year-old boy contracts sexually transmitted virus after being kissed on the cheek.
Baylie-Grey, from England, was hospitalized with a rash all over his face, in a coma, and infected with the herpes virus.
The baby's mother, Hayley Etheridge, said: "I was very surprised to learn that my child had herpes, because normally this virus is only transmitted sexually."
Hayley shared on July 31st that when she saw her son with a rash all over his face and unconscious, she quickly took him to the hospital. Doctors concluded that the boy had contracted the herpes virus (also known as HSV1) and warned that if the virus spread to his eyes, he could go blind. Worse still, doctors said that the 35-week-old fetus in Hayley's womb was also at high risk of contracting the virus.
Hayley believes that baby Baylie contracted the herpes virus after a relative kissed her on the cheek. Fortunately, after treatment at the hospital, Baylie's health returned to normal. Cito, Hayley's second son, was born later and showed no signs of herpes infection.

Herpes virus is transmitted through skin contact or saliva and spreads rapidly. Symptoms typically begin to appear a few weeks after infection, with patients experiencing tingling, burning, and sore skin, especially around the mouth. Approximately 67% of people under 49 have been infected with this virus.
Infants and toddlers infected with the herpes virus can experience very serious complications, including blindness, brain damage, and even death.
Once the herpes virus enters the human body, it can never be completely eradicated. Currently, medicine has only found ways to alleviate the symptoms for patients. Hayley shared her story hoping to advise people not to kiss young children to avoid the risk of contracting the virus.
