On the afternoon of October 25th, 8-year-old Ha Trong Dat was found dead at home by his relatives, his body bearing numerous wounds suspected to have been caused by a sharp object.

According to the leaders of Son Ninh commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province, Dat was home alone while his parents were working in the fields and his older sister was at school. Relatives took Dat to the Huong Son District Medical Center for emergency treatment, but he was pronounced dead. His body had multiple wounds on his hands, back, and the back of his neck, suspected to be caused by...slashed.

During the night, the Criminal Investigation Department and the Forensic Technical Department of the Ha Tinh Provincial Police sent officers to coordinate with the Huong Son District Police to examine the crime scene and the body, and take statements from those involved to investigate the cause of death.
