Belarus and Russia review approach to use of nuclear weapons
The Belarusian Foreign Ministry said that the approach to nuclear weapons has changed in the context of new technologies.

According to RIA Novosti on December 4, Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Nazaruk said in an interview that Minsk and Moscow have reviewed their approach to the use of nuclear weapons in the context of the emergence of weapons based on the latest technology.
“The decision of Russia to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus is a fact. Therefore, in the new document, from a legal point of view, this is a clearly defined measure between our two countries. The approaches to the use of nuclear weapons have been adjusted,” – said the Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus.
Igor Nazaruk explained that Moscow and Minsk are monitoring the application of new technologies in the field of weapons and the use of weapons based on new physical principles.
Nazaruk said that on December 6, a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State will be held in Minsk, at which President Vladimir Putin and President Alexander Lukashenko will consider the draft security concept of the Union State and the Russia-Belarus agreement on security guarantees. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that the provisions of Russia's updated nuclear doctrine are fully consistent with these documents.
This is a landmark issue, according to Mr. Nazaruk. It is designed to take into account changes in external conditions as the world moves toward a polycentric world order.
The Union State Treaty between Russia and Belarus has been in existence for 25 years. The Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister affirmed that Minsk has always considered the strategic alliance as “unbreakable brotherly relations between Belarus and Russia”, despite political upheavals and external challenges.
