Belkin launches 14-in-1 Thunderbolt 5 dock: Breakthrough 120Gbps bandwidth and 140W charging.
Belkin's new docking station supports outputting to three 4K displays simultaneously and provides 140W of charging power for laptops via the most powerful Thunderbolt 5 standard currently available.
Following Baseus's debut with the Spacemate RD1 Pro, Belkin has officially joined the high-end peripheral race with its 14-in-1 Thunderbolt 5 docking station. This is considered one of the most powerful connectivity solutions on the market today, directly targeting professional users, content creators, and gamers who demand extremely high bandwidth.
The power of Thunderbolt 5: Bandwidth up to 120Gbps
The most significant technical highlight of this device is its ability to fully exploit the potential of Thunderbolt 5. By default, the dock provides bidirectional data transfer performance at 80Gbps. However, the breakthrough lies in the Bandwidth Boost feature, which allows bandwidth to be expanded up to 120Gbps when the system detects demand from high-resolution displays.
This flexible bandwidth adjustment capability ensures a lag-free and high-quality viewing experience, even when users are handling demanding tasks such as 8K video editing or gaming at high refresh rates. This is a significant leap forward from the previous Thunderbolt 4 standard's 40Gbps limit.
Superior multi-monitor display capabilities
In terms of video output capabilities, the Belkin dock is equipped with one DisplayPort 2.1 port and one HDMI 2.1 port. Both support outputting signals up to 8K at 60Hz or 4K at an ultra-high refresh rate of 240Hz, depending on the capabilities of the connected display.
For Windows users, the device allows operation of up to three external 4K displays with a 144Hz refresh rate, or even four displays simultaneously if the laptop screen is included. For the Apple ecosystem, support will depend on the processor chip. Mac models using the latest M4 or M5 chips can control multiple external displays, while the M1, M2, and M3 chips are still limited by Apple's hardware architecture.
14-port multi-purpose connection system and 140W charging.
To meet the demands of a professional workstation, Belkin has integrated all the most common connectivity ports. Notably, the dock comes with an 180W power adapter and a 1-meter Thunderbolt 5 cable, allowing for up to 140W of charging power to laptops through a single cable. This power level is sufficient to power and fast-charge even the most powerful workstation laptops currently available.
Below is a detailed specifications table for the connection ports:
| Gate type | Quantity | Detailed specifications |
|---|---|---|
| Thunderbolt 5 (Downstream) | 2 | Supports video streaming and 15W charging for accessories. |
| DisplayPort 2.1 / HDMI 2.1 | 1 of each | Up to 8K@60Hz or 4K@240Hz |
| Ethernet | 1 | 2.5 Gigabit speed |
| USB-C 3.2 | 2 | One 30W port and one 7.5W port |
| USB-A 3.2 / 3.0 | 3 | One 10Gbps port and two 5Gbps ports |
| Read memory card | 2 | UHS-II SD 4.0 and microSD 4.0 (312MB/s) |
| Sound | 1 | 3.5mm Jack |
Design and compatibility
The product features a durable aluminum casing with compact dimensions (22.2 x 8.5 x 2 cm) and a weight of 510g. Inside, Belkin has integrated a thermal management system to ensure stable operation over extended periods. Additionally, the dock includes a power button, status LEDs, and a Kensington lock slot for security.
In terms of compatibility, the dock works well with Thunderbolt 4, USB 4, and USB-C devices; however, bandwidth will be limited by the standard of the source device. An important note is that this device does not support the older Thunderbolt 3 standard. Currently, Belkin has launched the product in the Chinese market at a price of 2,299 yuan (approximately $338). Although the company's global website previously listed the price at $350 before removing it, this signals that the product will soon be widely launched worldwide.
