The port, which received an investment of over 400 billion VND, has been completely taken over by fishermen's boats.
(Baonghean.vn) - Berths No. 5 and No. 6 of Cua Lo Port were completed by the investor to accommodate ships of 30,000 tons. However, the entire port has been encroached upon by fishing boats, preventing cargo ships from entering.
According to schedule, berths No. 5 and No. 6 of Cua Lo Port, invested by Tuan Loc Construction Joint Stock Company, have completed phase 1 and are in operation. However, the entire berth is frequently obstructed by fishing boats belonging to local fishermen.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, Director of Cua Lo Port Co., Ltd., representing the investor, said: "We invested 400 billion VND in building the port to contribute to the province's goal of attracting investment and accommodating ships of 30,000 tons. However, as soon as the port was completed, fishermen brought their boats in and it was completely full, making it impossible to receive cargo ships."
It is known that the entire 225-meter-long pier is often occupied by fishermen when they return to port, during monsoon season, storms, and even on clear days. Women take advantage of the pier's surface to dry fish and shrimp.

Speaking with several fishermen, they said: "We have petitioned the authorities at all levels for many years, but no one has invested in a mooring area for our boats. Currently, we have nowhere to dock, so we have to moor at Cua Lo Port."
Mr. Nguyen Hong Son, Director of Cua Lo Port Co., Ltd., said: "We hope that the authorities and Cua Lo town will pay attention to this issue; if this situation continues, it will affect the investment environment as well as the rights of businesses, and shipping companies will also be hesitant to come here to load and unload goods."

This situation is not unique to Cua Lo Port Company Limited; it's also happening at Nghe Tinh port, costing businesses manpower and reducing their competitiveness. Whenever a cargo ship arrives, port staff have to mobilize to urge ship owners to move their vessels to another location. However, sometimes they can't find the ship owners, and large ships are forced to wait outside, incurring significant costs.
