Co Xin ferry is ranked as a provincial historical relic.
On the afternoon of March 5, within the framework of the Thanh Liet Temple Festival, Hung Nguyen district held a ceremony to receive the Provincial Historical Relic Ranking Certificate for Co Xin ferry, in Xuan Lam commune.
Attending the ceremony were leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of Hung Nguyen district and officials, people of Xuan Lam commune, and descendants of the late Xin.

Co Xin ferry is an important traffic artery, this is also the place that was fiercely attacked by the US imperialists to block the supply route from the Northern rear to the Southern battlefield. This place witnessed the enthusiastic spirit of participating in the fighting service of the cadres and people of Hung Lam commune (now Xuan Lam commune). A typical example is Co Xin - a ferryman who devoted his whole life and fortune to serving the struggle for national independence and unification.

Co Xin, real name Luu Van Khuoi, was born in 1910 in Nghia Son village, Phu Long commune (now Long Xa commune, Hung Nguyen district). Co Xin was a silent ferryman who contributed human and material resources to the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism.
With a resilient and brave fighting spirit, Mr. Xin and the local people transported thousands of cadres, soldiers and goods across the Lam River to support the South. Mr. Xin heroically sacrificed his life while on duty due to a bomb attack on April 16, 1968 (March 19, Mau Than year).

Co Xin ferry is the place that marked many important historical events of the locality and the nation in the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, and is also the place that witnessed the heroic and indomitable fighting spirit of the army and people of Hung Xuan commune (now Xuan Lam commune), Hung Nguyen district.
In 2020, the Co Xin ferry site was added to the list of relic inventories by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 1863, dated June 11, 2020. In 2023, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 3486, dated October 26, 2023, on surveying the site and planning the construction of the Co Xin ferry historical site in Xuan Lam commune, Hung Nguyen district. Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee allowed the People's Committee of Xuan Lam commune to make a detailed plan for the Co Xin ferry site on an area of 1,200m2, including 600m2land area and 600m2water area
Then, on December 27, 2024, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 3621/QD-UBND on ranking Co Xin ferry as a provincial historical relic.

Currently, the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen district has issued a Decision approving the detailed planning at a scale of 1/500 of the Co Xin ferry historical site in Xuan Lam commune with a total planned area of nearly 1,200 hectares and including the following items: entrance, monument, trees, grass, water surface...
The recognition of Co Xin ferry by the Provincial People's Committee as a Provincial Historical Relic continues to affirm the historical and scientific value of the relic; at the same time, it aims to pay tribute to the great contributions of Co Xin and the people of Xuan Lam commune in the resistance war for national independence and freedom. This is also the legal basis for continuing to preserve and promote the value of the relic in the long term.

Speaking at the reception ceremony, comrade Bui Cong Vinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An requested the Party Committee, government and people of Xuan Lam commune to perform well the task of protecting and promoting the value of relics in the area in general and Co Xin ferry relic in particular according to the Law on Cultural Heritage, so that the system of relics in the area becomes an address connecting generations when returning to their roots; becoming a place to educate traditions, build great solidarity and foster love for the homeland and country among the people. Along with that, the locality needs to pay attention to attracting resources to invest, implement conservation planning, and embellish relics to become destinations for people and tourists, contributing to promoting the development of tourism economy in the area.
Hung Nguyen is a sacred land with a rich history, culture and revolution. Currently, there are 126 inventoried relics in the district; of which, 12 relics are ranked at the national level and 26 relics are ranked at the provincial level.
