Defending his girlfriend after she slapped him, the man stabbed a karaoke customer to death.
(Baonghean.vn) - After receiving a phone call from his girlfriend, who worked at a karaoke bar, pleading for help after being slapped by a customer, Nguyen Duy Tuan (residing in Vinh City, Nghe An province) immediately drove his car to the scene, pulled out a knife he had concealed, and stabbed Mr. Th. twice, causing the victim's death.
On June 8th, the Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial to hear the case against defendant Nguyen Duy Tuan (born in 1982), residing in Hamlet 34, Nghi Kim Commune, Vinh City, for the crime of "murder".
According to the investigation documents, at approximately 10 PM on November 21, 2020, at the Club karaoke bar (in Nghi An commune, Vinh City), Mr. Pham Ngoc Th. (born in 1991, residing in Nghi Kim commune, Vinh City) was singing karaoke when an incident occurred.conflictThe incident involved a staff member of the restaurant, Ms. Pham Thi H. (born in 1995, from Ha Nam province). Mr. Th. allegedly hit Ms. H. with his hand, so she called Nguyen Duy Tuan to recount the incident.
Hearing his girlfriend crying for help, Tuan abandoned his drinking session and drove to the karaoke bar. Before entering the bar, Tuan hid a folding knife in his pants pocket and went into the lobby in front of the cashier's counter.

Here, Tuan met Th. and asked, "Who hit H." but Th. didn't say anything. Seeing his girlfriend crying, Tuan continued to ask, "Who hit her?" H. replied, "That guy hit me, the one you just asked about."
At this point, Tuan turned to Mr. Th. and asked, "Why are you hitting a woman?" "What does it have to do with you?" Mr. Th. replied. Tuan said, "She's my friend," and simultaneously pulled out a knife and stabbed Mr. Th. once in the thigh. After being stabbed, the victim tried to run away, but Tuan stabbed him again in the back, causing Mr. Th. to collapse.
The victim was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment but died. The cause of death was determined to be acute respiratory and circulatory failure due to a penetrating lung wound and a severed left femoral artery.
As for the perpetrator, after committing the crime, he drove his car to Hanoi and disposed of the knife by throwing it off a bridge. At 2:00 AM on November 23, 2020, Nguyen Duy Tuan surrendered to the police and confessed to his crime.
At the trial, the defendant admitted to stabbing the victim with a knife. He explained his actions by saying he was intoxicated that day and therefore unable to control himself. In the presence of the victim's representative, the defendant offered an apology.
After a comprehensive review of the case, the court sentenced Nguyen Duy Tuan to 20 years in prison for murder. Regarding civil matters, the court ordered the defendant to pay 210 million VND in compensation to the victim's family.
