Cua Dong General Hospital: Providing free medical examinations and medication to over 6,000 impoverished patients.
(Baonghean.vn) - With the desire to bring a warm and joyful Tet holiday to families in difficult circumstances, every year-end, Cua Dong General Hospital implements the "Free Medical Examination and Medication Distribution for the Poor" program in impoverished rural areas of the province. Over the past four years, the hospital has provided free medical examinations and medication to over 6,000 disadvantaged patients, with the total value of the program exceeding 3.5 billion VND.

The journey to help impoverished patients during Tet 2016 was carried out by Cua Dong Hospital over two days, January 9th and 10th, 2017. Although it's an annual activity during Tet, for the hospital's doctors and nurses, each trip to help patients in poor rural areas still evokes the same feelings of anticipation and excitement. They arrived very early, preparing all the necessary medical equipment to ensure that people with limited resources receive the best possible healthcare.

A highlight of the free health check-up program at Cua Dong General Hospital is the use of modern equipment such as ultrasound machines, ENT endoscopes, electrocardiographs, blood count analyzers, and urine analyzers. Thanks to this, patients receive comprehensive and thorough examinations, just as if they were at the hospital itself.
This time, the hospital has sent 60 doctors, nurses, and medical staff to meet the needs of patients. These medical professionals have become volunteer soldiers in white coats, diligently performing examinations, diagnostic imaging, and functional tests...; with a friendly, approachable, and caring approach, they advise and answer people's health concerns.

The free health check-up program implemented by Cua Dong General Hospital right in the communes of Yen Thanh district is truly a valuable opportunity for people in poor rural areas.
Facing financial difficulties, with her husband and children working far away, Mrs. Le Thi Hoa (Cong Thinh Hamlet, Thinh Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District) has lacked the means to get a health check-up for many years despite suffering from arthritis and low blood pressure. On this occasion, receiving a free health check-up, Mrs. Hoa happily shared: “My family lives far from the commune and district health centers, and we don’t have the financial means, so I only go for check-ups when I’m sick. I’m very fortunate to have the doctors from the hospital come for a free check-up, and I received thorough advice on how to take care of my health.”
For the first time receiving a general health check-up right in his commune, Mr. Ngo Tri Cong (Hamlet 1, Minh Thanh) happily said: “The doctors performed ultrasounds, electrocardiograms, and all the necessary tests…they were thorough and dedicated. Without free health check-ups like this, we villagers would never have the opportunity to get a general check-up, detect any illnesses we might have, and treat them to protect our health. This is truly a meaningful Tet gift for us poor people.”
In this "Free Medical Examination and Medication Distribution" campaign, doctors and medical staff from Cua Dong General Hospital visited impoverished residents in five communes of Yen Thanh district: Ly Thanh, Dai Thanh, My Thanh, Thinh Thanh, and Minh Thanh. Nearly 1,500 poor people received free medical examinations, tests, diagnostic imaging, functional assessments, health consultations, and medication.
Supporting impoverished patients
Over the past four years, Cua Dong General Hospital has actively participated in the "Tet for the Poor" program through many meaningful activities. A highlight is the free medical examination and medication distribution program for the poor in rural, remote, and disadvantaged areas throughout the province.

Sharing his thoughts on the significance of the journey to help impoverished patients, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Kien, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cua Dong General Hospital, said: “The hospital uses modern equipment to serve health check-ups and detect potential diseases that people do not have the means to get examined at medical facilities. In this program, the hospital will support the detection and treatment of diseases for people (for diseases that can be treated on-site and organized at the hospital), and for serious diseases requiring high treatment costs, we will provide financial support to ensure complete treatment for the patients.”
The more important goal is to assess the entire region under the management of the health sector, thereby helping the health sector develop solutions and manage disease sources more effectively; to help people in the community avoid and treat potential diseases in a timely manner. Cua Dong General Hospital will implement this activity annually to share and contribute to healthcare for the poor in areas with limited access to medical services.”
Over the past four years, the "Free Medical Examination and Medication Distribution for the Poor" program of Cua Dong General Hospital has reached villages in the districts of Quy Hop, Thanh Chuong, Do Luong, and Yen Thanh, providing examinations and medication to 6,000 impoverished people. For these poor patients, the hospital's "Free Medical Examination and Medication Distribution" program is a noble and heartwarming act of kindness. For the hospital's doctors and nurses, the joy of these impoverished patients becomes a great source of motivation, empowering them to return to the villages and bring a warm and loving Tet (Lunar New Year) to the poor.
