After a period of research and development, in mid-December 2025, Minh An General Hospital successfully installed and put into operation a modern 128-slice CT scanning system from GE (USA).
According to medical experts, this is a 128-slice MS CT system being used in a few hospitals in Nghe An province. This system will help support high-detail image reconstruction, enabling technicians and doctors to detect and accurately assess conditions early, and to monitor treatment effectively across multiple specialties.
In particular, this system is highly effective in diagnosing and subsequently developing treatment plans for common and dangerous diseases, including: neurological and cranial diseases such as trauma and stroke, including cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction; detecting and identifying internal medicine diseases of the chest such as pneumonia, lung tumors/nodules, and chest trauma; detecting diseases of the abdominal and urinary tracts, or specialized diseases of the liver, gallbladder, and pancreas, and identifying tumors; and identifying and diagnosing diseases of the spine and joints such as trauma, degeneration, and bone and joint injuries.
Furthermore, it supports the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, demonstrating outstanding advantages in imaging the cardiovascular system, especially coronary arteries with narrowing, blockage, atherosclerosis, and post-stent placement; and in detecting aneurysms or dissections. In particular, the device is effective in diagnosing the structural abnormalities of the heart, both congenital and acquired.
According to Dr. Dao Ngoc Can, Head of the Diagnostic Imaging Department at Minh An General Hospital, the outstanding benefit of MSCT-128 imaging services at Minh An General Hospital is the clear images, which help detect small lesions of 1-2mm or more thanks to the thin slices of 0.625mm.
In particular, compared to previous magnetic resonance CT scanners, the MSCT-128 system offers extremely fast scanning times and accurate images; just a few minutes for general body scans and 15-20 minutes for specialized scans with contrast agents, such as coronary or cerebral angiography. With this design, the device can serve 50-100 patients per day.
Furthermore, the MSCT-128 device offers a fast scanning time, thus reducing the toxic dose of X-rays and discomfort for patients due to the minimal dose. In particular, its rapid scanning speed meets the requirements of emergency situations where quick results are needed as directed; reducing the risk of complications and the burden of subsequent treatment.
It is clear that investing in and mastering the VTCL-128 equipment not only marks a new stage of development for Minh An General Hospital but also contributes to increasing on-site diagnostic capabilities, helping people access cutting-edge technology right at the grassroots level.
In fact, after nearly two weeks of use, the MSCT-128 device has yielded extremely accurate and effective imaging results. Initially, the device will provide strong support, increasing the diagnostic capacity for on-site examination and treatment for the people of the former Quynh Luu area when they visit Minh An General Hospital. In the future, it will support services for medical facilities in the northern part of Nghe An province or the northwestern area along National Highway 48; and will also actively serve other emergency cases in the area.

Given the current overcrowding situation compared to its capacity of 200 beds, Minh An General Hospital has decided to implement an expansion project in 2026. The project includes the construction of a 9-story treatment building with a total floor area of over 10,000 m2 and an investment of over 100 billion VND.
