Vinh City General Hospital was allowed to resume operations from the afternoon of June 17th.

Previously, on June 15th, Vinh City General Hospital received notification from the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention regarding patient N.D.T (residing in Hung Dung ward, Vinh City) who tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Patient N.D.T previously visited the Outpatient Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic at Vinh City General Hospital on June 9, 2021. At that time, patient N.D.T did not exhibit any symptoms that would warrant a SARS-CoV-2 screening test as per regulations.

Immediately, the Covid-19 Prevention and Control Steering Committee of Vinh City General Hospital held an emergency meeting to implement disease prevention and control measures. Following the emergency meeting of the Nghe An Provincial Covid-19 Prevention and Control Steering Committee on the night of June 15th, and in accordance with the directives of the Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and the Director of the Department of Health, Vinh City General Hospital immediately conducted Real-Time PCR testing for all staff, service center employees, patients, patient family members receiving inpatient treatment at the hospital, and related departments that same night.

Simultaneously, the hospital conducted investigations, contact tracing, and isolation of F1, F2, and other related individuals in accordance with regulations, and organized disinfection and environmental sanitation throughout the entire hospital.

Following instructions, the hospital has temporarily suspended accepting new patients for examination and treatment, but continues to provide examination and treatment for patients currently receiving inpatient care.

On the night of June 16th, the Real Time PCR test results for all 1,087 staff, employees, patients, and their family members were released. Accordingly, 700 samples from staff and employees and 387 samples from patients and their family members being treated at Vinh City General Hospital all tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Efforts to meet the healthcare needs of the people.

Currently, given the extremely complex developments of the epidemic, in order to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of the people in the area, the hospital has sent Official Letter No. 621/BVTP dated June 16, 2021, requesting the opinion of the Department of Health on allowing the hospital to resume medical examination and treatment activities as soon as possible.

On the morning of June 17th, the Nghe An Department of Health organized an inspection team led by Dr. Nguyen Huu Le, Deputy Director of the Nghe An Department of Health, along with representatives from various functional departments under the department. The team inspected the COVID-19 prevention and control work and the current state of the procedures for patient triage, health declaration, screening, and rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen testing at Vinh City General Hospital.

Following inspection and evaluation, the Department of Health issued Official Letter No. 2346/SYT-NVY dated June 17, 2021, regarding the continued admission of patients at medical examination and treatment facilities. Accordingly, Vinh City General Hospital is permitted to resume admitting and treating new patients from 2 PM on June 17, 2021.

Vinh City General Hospital continues to aggressively and comprehensively implement the following measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic:

- Conduct rapid SARS-CoV-2 antigen tests for all patients seeking medical examination and treatment before entering the hospital (patients will bear the cost of the test themselves according to the regulations in Official Letter No. 5834/BYT-KH-TC dated October 27, 2020, of the Ministry of Health and Official Letter No. 2154/SYT-KHTC dated June 9, 2021, of the Nghe An Department of Health, at a cost of 238,000 VND per test).

- Control over patients and their family members using fingerprint and facial recognition;

- Stop visiting patients; allow only one family member to care for each patient; require patients and their family members to remain within the hospital grounds during examinations and treatments;

- Continue isolating F1 cases in accordance with regulations;

- Proactively develop plans for screening, receiving, isolating, and monitoring suspected cases of Covid-19.
