After the floodwaters receded, people in the flooded communes still faced countless difficulties. Houses were in disarray, property was lost, and even daily meals became a worry as many households lacked food or the time to cook. In this situation, free kitchens organized voluntarily by the people themselves became a warm beacon of hope, spreading love and compassion.

From early morning, the small kitchen at Mr. Tran Van Duy's house in Hoa Nam hamlet, Tuong Duong commune, was ablaze with activity. In a bustling atmosphere, he and more than a dozen other villagers were busy cooking rice, stewing meat, and stir-frying vegetables to distribute free of charge to flood victims. (Photo: Dinh Tuan)

“My house was fortunate not to be damaged in the recent flood. Seeing my neighbors struggling to clear mud from morning till night, I couldn't sit still. So I invited a few friends and neighbors to contribute rice, vegetables, and meat to cook. We're ready to serve anyone who needs it,” shared Mr. Tran Van Duy. Photo: Dinh Tuan

Recognizing the meaningfulness of this initiative, many people volunteered to participate. They came from various professions: teachers, small business owners, spa workers, etc., but all shared a common spirit of sharing. Some took advantage of their lunch breaks to cook, package, and distribute meals to the community. Photo: Dinh Tuan

A bunch of vegetables, a pot of hot rice, a helping hand… enough to ignite hope during these difficult times. It is reported that on the afternoon of July 26th alone, the kitchen at Mr. Duy's house prepared over 200 free meals for flood victims. Photo: Dinh Tuan
