After being cursed at by his sister with "go die," he used an iron bar to kill her.
Despite being repeatedly insulted and verbally abused by his younger brother, Phan Huu Tuong did not retaliate. However, after being cursed with "die" and having bricks thrown at him, the older brother used an iron bar to attack his brother, causing his death and pushing the family tragedy to its peak.
On March 24, the People's Court of Nghe An province held a first-instance trial to hear the case against defendant Phan Huu Tuong (62 years old), residing in Nghi Loc commune (Nghe An province), for the crime of...Killing.
According to the indictment, Tuong and Mr. Phan Huu T. (born in 1969) are brothers. After separating from his wife in August 2020, Tuong went to live with his older sister, who lived next door to his younger brother.
In his daily life, Mr. T. frequently drank alcohol, and when drunk, he would curse at his wife, children, and neighbors. Many times, Mr. T. cursed and insulted his older brother, but Tuong overlooked it.

On the morning of June 11, 2025, while Tuong was preparing to cook, her younger brother, standing outside her house, cursed at her, calling her a "parasite living off her sister." An argument ensued, with Tuong saying she hadn't taken anything from her and asking her brother to "stop being so disrespectful." Her brother continued to hurl insults, saying, "You'd better die!"
During the argument, Mr. T. picked up half a brick and threw it over the iron fence separating the two houses, but missed. He then continued to throw more bricks at his brother.
Believing his younger brother was being disrespectful, Tuong grabbed an iron bar and lunged from his sister's house, striking Mr. T in the neck. The victim collapsed and was rushed to the hospital but died from the severity of his injuries. After committing the crime, Tuong surrendered to the police.
At the trial, the defendant admitted to the crime, claiming that he was insulted and upset, and therefore lost control. The defendant stated that he had no intention of killing his sibling and requested a reduced sentence.
The victim's representative did not request compensation and asked the court to consider mitigating circumstances for the defendant.
The panel of judges determined that the defendant's actions were exceptionally dangerous and violated the lives of others. However, considering the context of the case and mitigating circumstances such as honest confession, remorse, family compensation, and a request for leniency from the victim's representative, the court sentenced Phan Huu Tuong to 6 years in prison.
