Nurse Phan Van Chung's colleagues shared: Besides being dedicated and devoted to patients, Comrade Chung is also an exemplary Party branch secretary, always seeking ways to help those in need and distress through practical actions.

For example, through skillful "people mobilization" within the Party branch, the comrade called on Party members to build a humanitarian fund, which received strong support. Accordingly, each month, every Party member in the Huong Son Commune Health Station Party branch saves at least 30,000 VND to help poor students and elderly people living alone. Although the Party branch only has 5 members, from 2013 to the present, the Party members have saved 8,000,000 VND to help those in difficult circumstances.

Mr. Chung visited Mr. Vo Ngoc Que, a war veteran, at his home in Trung My hamlet, Huong Son commune.

Huong Son is a particularly disadvantaged commune in Tan Ky district. Due to its vast geographical area, to raise awareness among residents about environmental protection and encourage participation in building waste disposal pits, Mr. Chung and the health station staff have consistently worked closely with the community, disseminating information and mobilizing support. They have also taken the lead in building waste disposal pits in their own homes, setting an example for others to follow. To date, over 100 households in Huong Son commune have built waste disposal pits, creating a local movement to encourage others to do the same.

In addition to providing healthcare to the people at the commune's health station, Mr. Chung and the party members in the branch also participate in the "Saturday for the People" program. Weekly and monthly, he and the doctors and nurses visit individual families receiving government assistance, elderly people living alone, and families facing hardship or illness to provide free medical examinations and medication. For those with mobility difficulties, the branch undertakes home-based care and treatment.

For the past three years, the Party cell of Huong Son commune's health station has been providing home care for war invalid Vo Ngoc Que in Trung My hamlet, Huong Son commune. In addition, the Party cell has also provided labor support for farming, and given gifts to the family during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year). Party branch secretary Phan Van Chung said: “In 2017, we continued our activities to care for and support families entitled to preferential policies, build a humanitarian fund, and promote the work of mobilizing people to build waste disposal pits at home. We assigned party members in the branch to be responsible for at least two hamlets each, and successfully mobilized 30 households to build waste disposal pits.”

Thanks to the collective efforts, especially those of the Party branch secretary, the Party branch of Huong Son Commune Health Station has received commendations from various levels for many consecutive years, and the unit has excellently fulfilled its duties. In particular, in 2016, Comrade Phan Van Chung was honored by superiors as a model for implementing Directive 03 of the Politburo on "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh".
